PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — With so many people flying for Thanksgiving, and with new controversial security techniques, it helps to know what to wear when you’re traveling.

Turns out, the wrong clothing choices could lead to a bigger delay and more scrutiny.

Frequent flier Meredith McKenzie told us what she tries to wear: “Slip-on shoes, no jewelry, no cell phones, just you know, wear comfortable clothes, but clothes that don’t look too baggy.”

Experts agree. Tracy Edwards from AAA Travel Sales says, “Loose clothing will cause some delays because they think you’re hiding something under there.”

According the TSA, you should also avoid clothing with metal studs or snaps, heavy jewelry and underwire bras.

Some travel experts say women should avoid skirts. “They should probably wear slacks when they travel because when they wear skirts and so forth, the long skirts – that can delay the screening,” said Edwards.
