Pirates Trade Zach Duke To Diamondbacks

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) — The Pirates have traded Zach Duke.

The left-handed pitcher is headed to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Pirates have yet to name the player they will get in return.

Duke was 8-15 with a 5.72 ERA in his final year as a Pirate.

Duke is 37-68 with a 4.80 ERA since debuting with an 8-2 record and 1.81 ERA in 2005. The Pirates chose not to bring back the Duke, who was eligible for arbitration, partly because they projected he might be awarded as much as $6 million.

The Associated Press contributed to the report.

I agree Duke is not the Ace, but heaven forbid the pirates might have to actually pay some money out! Wonder what old fart we are going to get?

I hate Neil trading off all our “talent” but this is one guy I don’t mind seeing go. Make an example that mediocre play will land you in another uniform quickely in Pittsburgh. We are tired of losing.
