MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Soldiers in Mount Pleasant are spending their Thanksgiving holiday delivering meals to the elderly all over Westmoreland County.

The meals were cooked on Wednesday at The Armory in Mount Pleasant.

Today, the food will be delivered in the areas of Mount Pleasant, Scottdale and Connellsville.

Officials say around 250 turkey dinners will be delivered in all.

Local high school students are helping in the effort.

It’s an extra special Thanksgiving for around 30 of the soldiers who recently returned from an eight-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The event is an annual tradition for the soldiers in Mount Pleasant.

Stay with KDKA for much more on this story.
