Officials Rule Local Teacher's Death Homicide
LANCASTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA/AP) - Investigators have released new details today in the death of a local high school teacher in Butler County.
According to state police, the Butler County Coroner has ruled the death of 48-year-old Steven Russo as homicide.
Authorities say he died from a gunshot wound.
Russo was found dead on the kitchen floor of his home in Lancaster Township on Wednesday.
He lived there with his girlfriend, whose daughter says Russo reported a break-in at the home on Tuesday.
He reportedly came home from lunch to find an intruder who ran away. Police found signs of a forced entry, but haven't determined whether that incident and Russo's death are related.
Russo taught statistics at Seneca Valley High School.
