By David Highfield

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) — Police in New Castle, Lawrence County, say an elderly man was shot and killed while riding a bicycle.

Someone spotting deer discovered the body of 71-year-old Leroy Blashak Tuesday afternoon in the Mahoningtown section of the city.

Blashak was a familiar face in that area of the city as people often saw him out and about.

During an autopsy, a bullet was recovered from Blashak’s right shoulder.

Police aren’t saying if they have a theory about the circumstances around his death, but they are asking for the public’s help.

Anyone who has information that could help in the investigation is asked to call the detective bureau at New Castle Police by calling 724-656-3585.

While it’s good that they found the mr. blashak, why were they spotting deer during rifle season. That’s a violation of state game laws.
