Suspect Arrested After New Castle Shooting

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – One person was injured after being shot in the head in Lawrence County Monday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened on Halco Drive in New Castle.

The victim, 19-year-old Trevaugh Thompson, was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio after being shot in the head. There is no word on his condition.

The police chief credits the arrest of 19-year-old Tavin Wise to witnesses coming forward with information quickly.

Thompson was driving through the West Side Housing Project when Wise allegedly fired 13 to 15 shots at his vehicle.

Tavin has not been charged at this time, but police believe it may be a drug-related shooting.

That “monkey” was one of my good friends. He didn’t die to gang violence or any of that mess. He was a great guy and a great father and a great friend. and where it happened is a horrible area.. it could have happened to anyone? Just because hes “colored” doesn’t make him a bad person. Thats racist?! Its 2010 people get over it. alot of black people made a huge difference to this world. so before you want to go and racial profile someone because of color? think twice and realize someone just lost their son, father, friend, uncle, team mate? it hurts.
