PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a two-year contract with former Atlanta Braves outfield Matt Diaz, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Dejan Kovacevic.

Diaz had many suitors this offseason. Among the teams interested, were the Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Royals, Dodgers, Mariners, Blue Jays, and Yankees.

Diaz played the last five seasons with the Braves.  During his eight-year career, he has a .301 batting average with 43 home runs and 192 RBIs.

Terms of the deal were not known, but in 2010 Diaz made $2.5 million with the Braves.
