NEW YORK (KDKA/AP) – It’s that time of year again when the NHL is in final preparation mode for their annual outdoor game, the Winter Classic.

This year’s game features one of the league’s best rivalries, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals.

The NHL is promoting the game with a mini-series on HBO, “24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic.” The mini-series is a behind-the-scenes look of the Penguins and Capitals as they head to the New Year’s Day game at Heinz Field.

Another way the league is promoting the Winter Classic is by sending the captains of the two teams to appear on the CBS game show “The Price Is Right.”

Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin will appear together on the show along with retired NHLer Jeremy Roenick. The three will announce an NHL-themed showcase, which includes a trip to the Winter Classic.
