Pitt Panthers Ranked No. 5 In AP Poll

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - The college basketball AP Top 25 rankings have been released and for the fourth straight week the top three seeds have remained the same. Duke remains at number one followed by Ohio State and Kansas.

Jamie Dixon's Pitt Panthers moved up one spot to number five in the rankings. Pitt trails Big East rival Syracuse (15-0) in the polls.

San Diego State and Villanova also moved up one spot to number six and seven respectively.

At the end of December, Pitt beat then number four ranked UConn at the Pedersen Events Center. That loss moved UConn down to eighth place. Following UConn are Missouri and Kentucky to round out the top 10.

Cincinnati moved into the top 25 rankings at the number 24 spot. That gives the Big East Conference seven ranked teams in the top 25. The Big East has a total of 16 teams in their conference.
