MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A house was destroyed by fire Tuesday night in Mount Pleasant Township.

The fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. at a duplex on Front Street.

Flames could be seen shooting more than 30 feet into the air.

According to the Hecla Fire Chief, one side of the home was being renovated, while the other side was occupied by a middle-aged couple. They were not home when the fire started.

No one was injured, but two neighboring homes sustained damage from the intense flames.

A fire marshal has been called in to investigate the cause.
