Snow, Bitter Cold Persist Across Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The snow is piling up again out there as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of the area through this evening.

Persistent bands of snow, which are now coming from Lake Erie, continue to paste the Pittsburgh area today.

KDKA's Dennis Bowman says between Tuesday afternoon and 8 a.m. Wednesday, just over five inches of new snow have accumulated across the Pittsburgh area.

Bowman says we should expect an additional one to two inches today with some blowing and drifting likely in gusty NW winds.

The winds will also produce wind chill values near 10 above for much of the day. The actual high will be near 26 degrees this afternoon.

Snow will diminish to light snow and flurries tonight with a low of 16.

The cold weather hangs on for Thursday with scattered light snow and a high of 22.
