Corbett, Cuomo Bet Food Baskets On Steelers-Jets Game

HARRISBURG (KDKA/AP) – A friendly wager has been set between Gov. Tom Corbett and Gov. Andrew Cuomo over the outcome of Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

The governors of Pennsylvania and New York are betting a basket of goodies from each other’s states.

If the Steelers win, Gov. Corbett will get a basket full of New York-themed food.

Corbett says the goodies will include Nathan’s hot dogs, chicken wings from Buffalo, Hudson Valley apple cider as well as cheese and maple syrup.

But if the Jets win, Corbett will have to send Cuomo a gift basket with Pennsylvania-made foods and beverages.

Why is the gov wagering with the NY Gov? Why is the Pittsburgh Mayor wagering with the NY Mayor? THE JETS PLAY IN NJ!!!!!! Didn’t either of these 2 politicians know that the Jets play in NJ?

    1. Justin Marchionda says:

they know the are doing this because they are called new york and not new jersey and most new jersey people are eagles fans

      1. Looney says:

Most NJ residents from the Camden/Trenton area–Philly suburbs–are Eagles fans. Up around the Meadowlands, the favorite team is usually the Giants. The Jets’ most loyal fanbase is out on Long Island.

Anyway, Gov. Christie isn’t cool enough to get involved in such betting.

why don’t they wager donations for food banks? These fat cats get perks all the time. Like they need a basket of goodies.

OH PLEASE!!!!!! Give me a break!!!! For quite a while we have not had a governor from western PA. Now, that we have one people are criticaal about everything Tom is going to do. Our governor is a Pittsburgh-based person who is proud of the Steelers. Being Governor is a hard enough job and now that he is trying to “lighten up’ — it just like the sayoing: “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. What’s wrong with our governor being proud of the Steelers? Instead of criticizing him, back him. Besides, what’s wrong with the person talking about the food banks giving to the food bank him/herself?

odd I thought the govoner we had before Rendall came from western PA?

      1. Pgh Proud says:

No Rendell is from Philly and is a die hard Eagles fan. It’s nice to have someone support the Steelers for a change.
