Penn Hills Shooting Victim Found Dead
PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Penn Hills.
Sources say it appears the victim, identified as 38-year-old Steven MacKowski, may have been shot elsewhere and then drove himself in a rental car to the 200-block of Kansas Street near Friendship Park.
That's where police found him slumped over in the front seat of the car in the driveway of a home where neighbors said he had been seen before.
The initial call to 911 said MacKowski was found in the car unresponsive and not breathing.
"We get there with the medics – they find a 38-year-old white male suffering from a single gunshot wound – what they believe was a single gunshot wound," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said. "First aid was attempted. Eventually he was pronounced dead here at the scene."
Investigators plan to interview MacKowski's friends to retrace his most-recent activities. Police aren't saying who called 911 to report the incident.
