1 Dead In Derry Township Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A late night round of winter weather left behind some slippery roads for Friday's morning commute.

Overnight, roads were covered in many places around downtown Pittsburgh, including the Parkway North where there was at least one accident.

Salt trucks were out trying to get the roads clear for the morning rush.

The weather may have also contributed to a deadly accident Thursday night in Westmoreland County.

The crash happened on Route 981 in Derry Township. Officials say a coal truck and a car collided near Slag Road. One person was killed.

Authorities say the road was extremely icy; however, it is not clear if that contributed to the crash.
