PHILADELPHIA (KDKA) — Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and his wife are separating.

Ed and Midge Rendell made the announcement in an email to friends.

The couple would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this summer.

Ed Rendell says the split is amicable and the two remain friends.

Midge Rendell is a federal judge.

Since leaving the governor’s mansion, Ed Rendell returned to his former law firm in Philadelphia and accepted a position as an on-air political analyst for NBC News.
