Butler 911 Flooded With Calls During Snowstorm

BUTLER (KDKA) -- Butler County 911 was flooded with calls Monday evening as a snowstorm hit during rush hour.

"We got inundated with calls for vehicle accidents," Frank Mathis, a spokesman for Butler County Emergency Services, said. "Most of them were minor, but we took a call for about 148 vehicle accidents starting about four o'clock yesterday until after midnight last night."

On Tuesday, things were back to normal at the call center since the streets were mostly passable.

A van on Route 38 did spin out of control and got stuck.

"The plow came along after," the driver said.

Al Dowling was having a good time shoveling on Cecilia Street.

"I just love to stay in shape," he said. "I'm almost 70 so, gotta stay in shape somehow."
