Pitt Moves Up To No. 3 In AP Top 25 Poll

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - In the final regular season AP Top 25 college basketball poll, the Pitt Panthers moved up one spot to No. 3. The Panthers are ranked behind Ohio State and Kansas respectively.

Ohio State and Kansas were the only teams that received first place votes from the 65-member panel.

BYU was ranked third last week but dropped to No. 8 after losing to New Mexico 82-64.

Big East opponent Notre Dame jumped from No. 8 to No. 4 behind Pitt as they start the Big East Tournament on Tuesday.

Duke, North Carolina, San Diego State, BYU, Purdue and Texas round out the top 10 in the AP rankings.

The Big East Conference tied their record for the third time with nine teams in the Top 25.

Joining No. 3 Pitt and No. 4 Notre Dame in the rankings are No. 11 Syracuse, No. 14 Louisville, No. 17 St. John's, No. 20 West Virginia, No. 21 UConn, No. 22 Georgetown and No. 25 Cincinnati.
