New Poll: Corbett’s Budget Not Popular Among Pennsylvanians

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Dr. Terry Madonna, professor of public affairs and director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, joined Robert Mangino to discuss a new poll that shows that the vast majority of Pennsylvanians are unhappy with Gov. Corbett’s new budget plan.   The poll also indicates that Gov. Corbett’s current approval rating is actually lower then that of president Obama’s.

  1. Noname please says:

I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t have support for what he is doing. He is doing what he said he would do, and what got him elected .
My guess is that the local media wants to pretend there is no support for the gov when in fact he has overwhelming support.
I’d also like to know who they polled!

    1. JTD says:

I agree with Noname. We elected him to do just this….unless of course, hypocrites who want budget cuts get upset when it happens to them. Way to go Tom, stick to your guns! Though the budget isn’t perfect, it’s a start….and unlike other, I actually READ the budget to know what’s in it. THIS Pennsylvanian supports you!

      1. Truth teller says:

THIS Pennsylvanian doesn’t ! You will allow the gas companies to rape our state while simultaneously complaining about our fiscal situation. You put the rich corporations ahead of what is best for this state – and if you keep it up. you won’t have a shot in the dark at getting re-elected.

To the GOPigs above: once again, ignorance is bliss isn’t it? When you don’t like the facts, they must be bogus. The whole world revolves around you doesn’t it? How could people not like him right?! You like him so therefore he’s doing a good job and any poll saying otherwise is lying. You can go back to faux news now, guess you accidentally came to an actual news site.

      2. Elizabeth Claytor says:

JTD is exactly right. Budget cuts are only good if they have an effect on someone else. Some of these people who are squealing the loudest voted for Mr. Corbett. Some probably did not vote at all. We are getting what we deserve.

    2. Noname please was duped says:

I find it hard to believe that you were duped..

Corbett told a half truth. He said he will not raise taxes. What he did not tell us was that he was shifting the debt and tax burden to municipalities and school districts.

Meanwhile, the attorney general’s office continues to maintain a private jet for that office’s discretionary use.

Meanwhile, Corbett’s budget includes a remodel for the lt. gov mansion with a new swimming pool. Did he tell us that while campaining?

Where’s Corbett’s initiative to get rid of the state stores?

Where’s Corbett’s initiative to reduce the size of the legislature?

Corbett doesn’t have my support because I did not vote for him.

      1. I'm not opposed says:

Bull, maybe your just misinformed I agree the media just wants you to believe
there is no support and threats of what’s ahead politically I know our Governor is smart enough to realize the only people who oppose his plans are the out numbered Democommie’s why do you think Corbet got elected in the first place .

    3. Michelle Koposko says:

Corbett’s budget cuts to education are unreasonable. He is hurting our future generation. He is ensuring larger class sizes with little to no individualized attention and cutting programs that are proven to work. He is an advocate for big businness that has it’s basis outside of our state. Marcellus Shale should be paying a severance tax. They only provide the citizens of Pa with the lowest paying jobs and bring in people from their home state to do the jobs that actually pay a decent wage. They are destroying our environment and taking advantage of the hard working people of our state. A severance tax would solve our deficit without compromising the future of our children. Corbett’s budget cuts = Every Child Left Behind. Fracking Corbett!

  2. CJCH says:

100% agree with comments by Noname & JTD.Delighted that we now have a Gov.who is not afraid to take on the teachers unions.Make ALL teachers accountable…..tenure or not……….I’m with you Tom.Thanks for doing what
you promised the citizens of Pa.

    1. John Christian says:

You’re right! The problem in this world is not terrorism, or dependence on foreign oil. It’s not bad parenting or wasteless governmental spending. It’s those greedy teachers! Those people have the nerve to get average pay and medical benefits – for what?! All they do is teach the next generation of politicians and online commentors, not to mention basically raise and discipline the children, while providing basically a cheap babysitting service for the public who would rather earn as much money as possible instead of raising their children. Yes, it’s about time those public school teachers get what’s coming to them!

  3. Trent says:

Don’t rely on main street media they always twist things to make it go in thier favor
“called puppets on a string,”leading you to believe what they want you to believe.
If you want to get the true facts listen to conservative talk radio, sorry but this is
These facts here about GOV. poll is PROOF

    1. Trentless says:

Trent said, “Don’t rely on main street media they always twist things to make it go in thier favor“called puppets on a string,”leading you to believe what they want you to believe.”

Did ya find those WMD’s, Trent?

How about that Kenyan birth certificate?

      1. Trent says:

Responding to Mr.Nobody ‘Obliviously you must have been listening to the media
i have been referring to Remember all those army trucks driving across the desert late at night from Iraq to Libya right before Pres.Bush moved in.I bet you
didn’t know that, stick around there is plenty for you to learn if you can get your mind straight.

      2. Trent says:

My bad i meant from Iraq to Syria

  4. bvrbob says:

corbett is a liar. wait and see how much your school and property tax go up.
i hope you are happy you voted for a bought and paid for puppet.

    1. Michelle Koposko says:

  5. Bob McBob says:

Bvrbob hit the nail on the head, once property taxes skyrocket because of Corbett you’ll be screaming to have him impeached. Be careful what you wish for…

  6. mary says:

Hey this is exactly what most Pennsylvanians wanted, now this budget may seem bad , but it is going to be worse across Pa. before it gets better, I agree with Bob Mcbob be very careful what you wish for.

  7. Jessica says:

There are plenty of things to do. I agree with some cuts to education in some places but he’s going too far. I’m surprised the people posting here are for this. Even libertarians i know are against large the cuts are, even if that’s anecdotal.

  8. Richard says:

Personally, I’m satisfied with what Corbett has done so far. He was voted in office to cut spending without directly raising taxes and that’s what he did. I do believe there should be an extraction tax on the Marcellus shale drilling and that the Pennsylvania legislature needs to feel the pain of budget reductions too. That being said, I doubt that Corbett is done yet so I say ‘Good job so far!’

  9. logginz says:

Personally they should be gutting and cutting a lot more. This budget doesn’t even go far enough!!!

  10. redrock100 says:

Democrats love taxing th give entitlements to the lazy

  11. critter says:

whats the difference between a democrat and a welfare recipient? Nothing.

  12. Sheeple says:

Corbett is just another republican bought off corporate a$$ kisser…..Hope you morons are happy

  13. TT says:

You know what i find interesting you drive by Clairton Steel Mill and you will still
see Gov.Corbetts political sign still up on front of property. So apparently the
steel mill workers seen some good in him or they would have took that sign down
    along time ago

  14. dbf says:

And the destruction of the middle class continues. Destruction of the state educational system, an extreme escalation in property taxes, and the gutting of higher educational funds, which will drive away research and development, drive away top educators, and also crush local school districts around the state. This is what all dictators do first when ascending to power. By cutting in half state grants for higher education, only the very wealthy will be able to gain a college degree. Class warfare that Pennsylvanians will never recover from- Thanks so much for destroying the state, conservatives. You may be happy now, but you too will suffer the consequences.

    1. Michelle Koposko says:

      You couldn’t be more right!

      1. Michelle Koposko says:

I was referring to dbf not Bull. Bull needs to do some research. Unless he makes 500,000 a year or more he has no reason to support Corbett because Corbett surely doesn’t care about him!

  15. REALITY says:

I have a question…. if teaching is such a lucrative job…. why didn’t all of you people who are speaking with LIMITED knowledge of what actually goes on go into teaching. It seems to me that if they have been so protected and overpaid using any money it would only make sense to pursue such an easy profession and get all of these protections and compensation you speak about? It is for only one of two reasons… either you are not as spart as you think you are.. OR the teaching profession is not as lucrative as you so easily state. Can’t have it both ways.
