Duquesne's McConnell Named To Freshman All-America Team
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The successful freshman season of Duquesne point guard T.J. McConnell continued Monday as he received an impressive honor.
McConnell was one of 21 players named to CollegeInsider.com's Freshman All-America team.
The guard from Chartiers Valley High School was the only freshman in Division I basketball to total over 300 points, 100 assists and 75 steals.
McConnell averaged 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4. assists and 2.8 steals per game in helping Duquesne to a 19-13 record.
Earlier this month, McConnell was named the 2011 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year.
McConnell is joined on this freshman All-America team with talented players like North Carolina's Harrison Barnes, Ohio State's Aaron Craft and Jarred Sullinger, Michigan's Tim Hardaway, and Kentucky's Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight.
