Cranberry Traffic Light Sync Working As Planned

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – Who would have thought a road project would work as it was planned to!

Traffic congestion and back-ups have plagued Cranberry’s main roads for years, and a new light-syncing project that was recently implemented promised to make traffic move more smoothly and it delivered.

KDKA Radio’s Larry and John talk to Jason Daily, Director of Public Works for Cranberry, on how they did it and how well it is working.

How could they tell? It’s only been one day. And, there were ambulances and fire vehicles with sirens on going through the intersections with their special lights atop, throwing the whole traffic signal pattern off during “rush hour” time (420pm). Took me an extra 3 minutes LONGER to go from one end of Cranberry (south) to the other end (north). And the traffic congestion that was caused on the northern end where the lights are NOT synced……. I agree, stupid news!

There are lots and lots of roads in the region where lights need to be synced, and this shouldn’t be a celebratory moment for a public works department. It just shows how little they (in this case, Cranberry Public Works) pay attention to traffic studies conducted by engineers.

“working” is a very subjective term….took 25 min to go from Siba on 228 to the 79 entry….ridiculous!!!
