Lyle Overbay Recaps Series Victory Over Cardinals

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pirates First Baseman Lule Overbay joined Joe Starkey and Josh Miller of Seibel, Starkey, and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN immediately following the teams 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals which clenched their second road series victory in as many tries to start the season.

Lyle said the key to the hot start to this season is that the team is full of young players and it's important to get them confident early so they can carry that throughout the rest of the season.

Former Pirates players have talked about the weight of the losing seasons that they played under, but Lyle told us that this team is only focusing on helping the young talent believe in themselves and believe in their ability to end the losing streak.

New Manager Clint Hurdle has seemed to be having a large impact on the players and Lyle talked about what it has been like playing for him.

Overbay wrapped things up with the guys by expressing his excitement to be coming home and playing in front of the hometown fans at the team's Home Opener on Thursday.
