19-Year-Old Killed In Hill District

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the Hill District in broad daylight.

Emotions were raw as relatives crowded near their loved one who lay in the street dead from gun shot wound to the head and chest around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday

It happened on La Place street and Centre Avenue right next to a busy A Plus convenience store.

Police have not released the victim's name yet, but did say he is from the Oak Hill section of the Hill District.

So far, police have made no arrests and would only say they are looking for a black male suspect.

Rev. Glenn Grayson, the pastor of Wesley Center A.M.E. Zion Church in the Hill could both sympathize and empathize with those at the scene.

Rev Grayson told reporters it was less than six months ago when his own son was shot and killed at an off campus party near California University of Pennsylvania. He went on to say the victim today was just one year older than his son Jeron. He says the violence must stop.

Witnesses told police they saw a green Nissan armada with tinted windows speeding away from the scene. It is not known if the driver of the vehicle was involved with the shooting.
