Police: Squirrel Hill Man Murdered

SQUIRREL HILL (KDKA) -- The investigation continues today after an elderly man was found dead Wednesday inside of his home in Squirrel Hill.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 90-year-old Cuddy Briskin.

Police say a relative came to check on Briskin Wednesday afternoon and found him sitting in a chair in the living room with a plastic bag over his head and with head injuries. It's unclear if the head injuries caused his death.

An autopsy will have to be done to determine the cause of death. Police also don't know how the injuries were inflicted.

Police say they don't know what motive anyone would have to kill Mr. Briskin. They're also trying to determine if someone stole anything from the home or ransacked it.

KDKA's David Highfield reports:

Neighbors on Fernwald Road are shocked, saying how quiet and safe the street normally is. In fact, Briskin was said to leave his back door unlocked normally.

Briskin lived alone after the death of his wife a few months ago. Neighbors say he owned Briskin Furs on Freeport Road in Aspinwall at one point. His nephew reportedly owns it now.

One neighbor, Steve Margolis, reports that his dogs started barking at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, which seemed very odd to him.

Pittsburgh Police are asking anyone with information about what may have happened to please contact them.

KDKA's Heather Abraham reports:
