Rudy Owens turned in a great performance Monday night, and last night another Pirate top prospect pitched a gem.
Altoona RHP Bryan Morris is a player that some people believe could be in the Pirates 2012 rotation. Last night, Morris turned in a performance that had to impress Pirates GM Neal Huntington.
Morris, along with 3 Altoona relievers, combined to shut out the Akron Aeros, 2-0.
Morris pitched 6 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 0 ER, 1 walk and struck out 3 batters.
Offensively, 3B Jeremy Farrell went 2-3 (double) and is batting .391 on the early season. Farrell was a 8th round draft pick in 2008.

2B Jarrek Cunningham went 2-3 and homered for the second straight game.
C Chris Snyder went 1-4 (batting .400)
1B Aaron Baker went 3-5, 3 runs, HR, 4 RBI and is batting .467 for the season. Baker was a 11th round pick in the 2009 draft.
**West Virginia beat Asheville, 6-3.
RHP Zack Von Rosenberg had the best outing of his big league career. Von Rosenberg went 5 IP, allowing only 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 walk and struck out 9 batters. Von Rosenberg was a 6th round pick in 2009 and is one of the Pirates most highly rated prospects.
RHP Brooks Pounders pitched 2 innnings, allowing 1 run and struck out 4 batters. He was the Pirates 2nd round pick in 2009.
DH Matt Curry went 3-4, 3 runs, 2 triples and is hitting .533 for the season. He was a 16th round pick in 2010.
