Josee Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pirates will look to win their fifth series of the season tonight as they take on the San Diego Padres.

Tonight’s pitching matchup is Jeff Karstens vs. Matt Latos.

Here are some interesting Pirate pre-game notes:

*The Pirates have hit a total of six home runs in the first inning this year, which is tied for third in the Majors behind the Yankees (7) and Brewers (7). The Giants and Indians have also gone deep six times in the first inning this year.

*In addition, Pittsburgh’s 23 first inning runs this year is tied for second-most in the Majors behind the Yankees, who lead the way with 27.

*Garrett Jones’ 6 home runs ranks third among NL right fielders behind Lance Berkman (9) and Jason Heyward (7).

*His .976 OPS ranks sixth among all right fielders in baseball behind Toronto’s Jose Bautista (1.292), St. Louis’ Lance Berkman (1.275), Minnesota’s Jason Kubel (1.110), Carlos Quentin of the White Sox (.984) and Andre Ethier of the Dodgers (.981).

*The Pirates have posted 10 road wins this year, which is tied for the most among all Major League teams…..The Pirates won their 10th road game last year on June 28.
