Hotel Searched As Police Seek Downtown Bank Robber

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police say the person who robbed a bank downtown may have done this before.

According to investigators, they believe the suspect is a serial bank robber.

The latest robbery happened around noon at the First Commonwealth Bank in the 500-block of Grant Street. The suspect allegedly grabbed a large quantity of cash and may have walked a block away to the Omni William Penn Hotel.

Sources tell KDKA's Marty Griffin the suspect was likely seen on surveillance cameras walking off of the elevator at the hotel.

Police immediately surrounded the hotel, searched all floors and did not find him. They believe the suspect is wearing a wig and has a significant number of tattoos on one arm.

They believe this person also robbed a downtown bank last week.
