Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette Talks Plaxico Burress

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Steelers Beat Writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Ed Bouchette joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to give his thoughts on a possible return to the Steelers for former Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress.

Burress will be getting released from prison this month and Ed said the Steelers wouldn’t be the only team pursuing the former star. For the right deal, he could see a scenario where they bring him back.

According to Ed, another former imprisoned star caught the eye of the Steelers when he was released from jail.  Before the Philadelphia Eagles signed him, Mike Vick was reportedly someone Head Coach Mike Tomlin was interested in the team pursuing as a backup to starter Ben Roethlisberger.

We wrapped things up with Ed getting back to the Plaxico Burress discussion and what the right circumstances would have to be in order for the Steelers to bring him back.

I would love to have Plex back. Wish the team could have kept him the first time around along with Hines. I know there are Plex haters out there-let it go and give him a second look. He had height, reach and speed when he was here and hopefully he still has some of that left. I wish him well and would truly like to see him land here somehow. Plus, Ben really worked well with him.

Then why let Santonio go? I don’t see this happening and I never heard any “rumors” about the Steelers interest in Michael Vick. Tomlin maybe, Steelers, I don’t think so.

  3. Jeff says:

We have a long tradition of when you place yourself higher than your team then you are gone. Please Mr. Rooney do not change that. It’s great that Mike Vick has done great and seeing the person he has become. Plax might do the same thing. The thing is the Steelers do not need the distractions on and off the field because these people made poor choices in life.
