Baldwin Police: Man Charged With Rape Pretended To Be An Actor

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man from Baldwin Borough is charged with raping two people whom he met at bus stops in the area; and now police are looking for other possible victims.

Baldwin Borough police arrested Dameon Anderson, 35, on May 25th on charges including rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and aggravated indecent assault for allegedly attacking a juvenile.

As the result of that investigation, Baldwin police also charged Anderson with raping a 55-year-old woman in February.

According to investigators, both victims told police that they met Anderson along Port Authority bus routes; but that wasn't the only similarity in the reports. The victims told police that Anderson claimed to be a member of the Screen Actors Guild and that they had exchanged phone calls with Anderson prior to the attacks, which they said happened in his apartment.

"Somehow he's usually able to get a phone number off of them or they exchange phone numbers some way and he keeps in touch by phone," Baldwin Police Chief Michael Scott said. "Then he'll show up at the bus stop again and then he'll get them to go back to his apartment to supposedly watch the movie that he's in or one of the movies he's in."

Though investigators say two other women provided similar accounts of their meetings with Anderson, police say they declined to file charges against him.

"We obtained a search warrant, we got DNA samples off of him as well as some evidence that was left in the apartment," Scott said. "So, we're going to be checking that against unsolved cases as well."

Prior to moving to Baldwin, police say Anderson has lived in several other Allegheny County communities as well as out of state.

"We feel that there may be other people out there that have had contact with him either willingly or unwillingly," Scott said.

Authorities are encouraging any sexual assault victims whose attacks happened under similar circumstances to call police immediately.

Anderson is now being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
