Jury Selection Complete In Poplawski Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Jury selection has been completed in the trial of Richard Poplawski, the man accused in the deaths of three Pittsburgh police officers in 2009.

KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that all 12 jurors and six alternates have now been selected.

A total of 144 potential jurors have been interviewed since selection started on Tuesday.

Poplawski is charged in an April 2009 standoff at a home in Stanton Heights. Three police officers, Eric Kelly, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo II all died while responding to the domestic call at the Fairfield Street home.

The jury was selected in Dauphin County and will be brought back to Pittsburgh.

The trial is expected to begin on June 20 in Pittsburgh.
