John Wehner Talks Potential Bucco Moves

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Former Pirate and Current Analyst John Wehner joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller to talk about the team and what moves could be made in order for the Pirates to move forward.

Wehner also discussed the lack of power at the corner positions both in the infield and outfield and said the team should make a move to bring in a big bat, but doesn't think it would be wise for them to get a "rental" player for just three months.

Lyle Overbay has been taken out of the lineup and replaced by Garrett Jones for tonight's game, and Wehner said in Overbay he has seen a guy who is struggling mechanically and needs to get his swing back.

Whener said he thinks if the Pirates had any sort of consistent offense they could be five or six games above .500 and that at this point, if the team was to finish with 72 wins at the end of the season it would be a disappointment.

When asked about trade talk involving Paul Maholm, Wehner said he would need a proven big league hitter and with the prospects the team could bring up to replace him, he would not mind the trade if the return was right.
