Big Ben May Require Surgery On Broken Foot

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) – Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may require surgery to repair a broken foot at some point.

According to an Associated Press report, Roethlisberger said he could have had surgery following their 31-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV.

After talking with doctors, he elected to let it heal on its own.

Roethlisberger aggravated the injury during the Steelers' 19-16 overtime win in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills.

He finished out the season and did not miss a play because of the injury.

He played the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs with a special cleat fitted with two metal plates.

Roethlisberger said the ongoing NFL lockout has helped him recover from the injury, but he hasn't ruled out surgery at some point.
