BEECHVIEW (KDKA) –A man is dead after a SWAT situation in Beechview.
The incident happened at 1520 Alton Street.
It all started around 11:30 a.m. when a woman told police she got a suspicious email from her 53-year-old brother who was threatening to take his own life.
When SWAT officers arrived, they broke down the front door and saw what appeared to be a suspicious package on the first floor and some wires leading to a closet.
This prompted authorities to call in the bomb squad.
Shortly before 4 p.m., SWAT team members went inside a house and found that the man was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He also left behind a note.
Neighbors say police told them to stay indoors until the situation was under control.
