Assessments On Hold – For Now

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – Washington County got a reprieve from the Legislature to not have property reassessments, but not Allegheny County.

Despite a judge ordered delay, Allegheny County will have to perform reassessments next year, and County Executive Dan Onorato doesn’t understand the double standard.

He joins KDKA Radio’s Larry and John to talk about the latest in the property assessment battle.

Property taxes need to go, its the most unfair taxation we have. A State wide sales taxes and elimination of property taxes.

you like the idea of sate wide sales taxes????? Just what this economy needs, higher prices on everything we buy. You have equity in your home AND YOU CAN WRITE OFF YOUR PROPERTY TAXES and there is no more transparent tax that exixts. Politicians like that invisible stuff. TAlso, try appealing any other tax in front of an idependent arbitor. The state businesses would wilt espoecially on the borders.

Larry, the only standard that should be considered in fairness. If I understand the Onorato logic, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAIR TAXES UNTIL EVERYBODY ELSE DOES….I wonder what type of leadership that displays

  4. Anonymous says:

The only standard should be fairness. Do you buy the logic that WE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAIR TAXES UNTIL THE STATE FORCES EVERY ONE ELSE TO DO THE SAME. That is the leadership qualities this administration has displayed for 8 years.
