Kennywood To Celebrate Holiday Season With Lights Show

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) -- Santa Claus is coming to Kennywood! It may be the middle of summer, but the amusement park already has plans in the works for the holiday season.

Officials announced today that the park will host Kennywood's Holiday Lights this coming December. Kennywood will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays - December 2 to 4, 9 to 11 and 16 to 18 - from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.

There will be plenty of holiday-themed fun including a light show, music, food and visits from the jolly old elf himself!

The light show, featuring tens of thousands of lights set to holiday music, will be set up around the lagoon and will take place several times each night.

Santa Claus will be on hand for pictures. Also, there will be cookie decorating and local choral groups providing holiday tunes.

Many park rides cannot operate in the winter months, but some will be open to the public, including the Carousel, Kangaroo, Paratrooper and the Olde Kennywood Railroad.

Favorite Kennywood foods will also be available including Potato Patch Fries, kettle corn, s'mores and hot drinks.

Park officials say parking will be free, but there will be a small admission fee that is yet to be determined.

For more information, visit Kennywood's website for more on upcoming events at the park.
