Police Looking For Missing 1-Year-Old Boy

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police are looking for a missing 1-year-old boy from Homewood.

According to police, Raymont Pope was last seen Wednesday morning on Bennett Street.

Police believe the child may be with his father, Radford Pope, in the East Pittsburgh or Wilkinsburg area.

They are not calling this a case of kidnapping or abduction, but the father does not have any custody rights.

He is also under a protection from abuse order and this is not the first time he has taken off with his son.

“There was a case last year involving this family, involving the father and this child where he took the child without the mother’s permission and we ended up locating the child in Los Angeles, Calif. The child was unharmed and was returned,” Pittsburgh Police Lieutenant Kevin Kraus said.

They are believed to be driving a 2007 silver Chrysler Town & Country minivan with Pennsylvania plate GTX-0261

The child is described as an African-American male weighing 27 pounds. He also has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information should call the Missing Persons Unit at (412)-323-7141.

Oh come on people. Not all parents have a right to thier children for various reasons. And they think he may be with him. Yes the child is missing. Hope they find him safe and well.

who called him missing? the mother? If he’s with the father then he is not missing.. Unless the Father is missing as well.

The father is obviously missing as well!

27 pounds at 1 year?? Wow!!

  • Anonymous

Some mother’s use the kids to get back at their father’s so if he took him he might have just wanted to see his son and if a 1 year old is only 27 pounds then maybe his with the wrong parent

  • All is not as it seems

The story says nothing about whether or not the father has visitation rights. Custody is one thing but visitation…..if he has it and he’s within his rights then the boy is not missing. Even at that, what if the father wanted to take the child on vaca and the mother agreed. Even though it may not comply with visitation as long as both parties agreed then there’s no argument. My mother had full custody of me from the time I was 7. There was no visitation order set up, I just went with my dad when I wanted. Heck, I even stayed there for a summer or 2 (I mean I was just 25 minutes away in another county but still…).

“Anon” was right about some parents (not just mothers) using the child(ren) to get back at the other parent. I’ve seen cases where a parent has called the police and reported a child missing b/c the other parent was 5 minutes late getting the child back.

We don’t know the whole story and the events that lead up to it. But for the child’s sake, let’s just hope that his father is taking excellent care of him—where ever they may be.

Maybe u ppl dont have kids but 27lbs is not skinny for a 1 yr old! And the boy is under a protection from abuse by his father! HELLO! WHAT IS WRONG WITH U PPL!!!

This child was on foster care for a month returned home was abducted by his father and taken to CA. That happened in end of July/beginning of Aug 2010. Same thing hastens again. Just like last year birth mom waits 6 days to notify police. Should be placed back in foster care to a family that will love and protect him.

If child was taken from custodial parent without permission or not returned when promised, this so much IS kidnapping and abduction. apparently someone thought mom should have custody, either he gave it up or a judge decided to take it away. so, hello…..thee child is missing. the child apparently has been abducted, and even if this happened 10 times before with good result, who is to say it will this time. i hope they get him back safe and sound.

i been a foster child hey if my dad would have stepped up and took custody of me i wouldnt have been so abused but most dads cant step up so if he is w his dad do the right thing go to court and do it the right way. if u can be his savior then do it the right way.

Let me see if I got this right. There is a PFA against the father. So she drops the child off with the father’s mother. IS SHE STUPID??? Sorry, dumb question.
