PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Starting pitcher Paul Maholm joined 93-7 The Fan’s Tom Grimm after the Pirates’ 9-1 blowout of the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park Sunday afternoon to talk about picking up his sixth win of the season.

Paul broke down his own performance, which lasted 7 2/3 innings and included eight strikeouts, and talked about what it means to end the first half of the season with a big win, having surpassed the expectations of many to this point. He talks about how his defense buoyed his spirits, and how it felt to get more run support than has been the norm this year.

In addition, Paul, who is now 9-2 lifetime against the Cubs, talks about how and why the team has been able to distance itself from the demons of past losing seasons, and the impact pitching coach Ray Searage has had on him.
