Human Remains Found Near Pond In Butler County

BRADY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after human remains were found near a pond in Butler County.

According to State Police, skeletal remains of two bodies were found near a pond on private property in Brady Township on West Liberty Road.

Flood lights have been brought in and the pond is expected to be drained overnight.

Police were initially called to the house to check on a couple that had been reported missing and were involved in an accident outside of Pennsylvania.

"This afternoon we were contacted by the New Jersey State Police to check on the welfare of the residents of this house. When State Police arrived at the residence this afternoon, on the property they discovered what appears to be skeletal remains. It is very suspicious. We're treating it as such. We're going to have the area locked down tonight and through the day tomorrow. We've executed the search warrant here tonight," Lt. Steve Ignatz said.

Experts from Mercyhurst College have been called in to help in the recovery and identification process.

One neighbor described the house as more of a mansion, which has two six-car garages.

No charges have been filed at this time.
