1 Dead, 1 Injured In Overnight Aliquippa Shooting

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) -- Police are searching for two suspects following a robbery and shooting overnight in Aliquippa that left one man dead and another injured.

Emergency officials in Beaver County say the incident was reported around 2:15 a.m. in the 100-block of 5th Avenue near Bert's Barber Shop.

According to police, three men from Penn Hills attempted to rob two men from Aliquippa.

"One of the individuals here from Aliquippa was licensed and armed and he was permitted to carry a firearm," said Chief Ralph Pallante, of the Aliquippa Police Department. "It appears that a tussle took place and several shots were fired as they were tussling over the gun and the gentleman from Penn Hills was shot in the chest. It appears that was a fatal wound."

Jiwan Bailey, 19, of Penn Hills, one of the alleged robbers was killed. Investigators say his two accomplices are still on the run.

"The gentleman from Penn Hills, with at least two accomplices, attempted to rob two gentlemen from Aliquippa," said Chief Pallante. "It appears that the individual from Aliquippa were walking and we're assuming that the individuals from Penn Hills were not walking just for the fact that they are not from here, so we assume that they were in a vehicle."

Lucien Roberts, 26, and Brian Elmore Jr., 21, both of Aliquippa, were the robbery victims according to police. Elmore was shot in the arm, hand and leg and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

It was Roberts who investigators say was armed and licensed to carry a gun.

"We're assuming right now that the shooter is the deceased individual, Jiwan Bailey," said Chief Pallante.

Beaver County detectives and the Penn Hills Police Department are working with Aliquippa Police in locating the other two suspects. Meanwhile, police say it does not appear the men knew each other.
