MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) – Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Westmoreland County adult bookstore Monday morning.

According to police, the incident happened at the store on Route 22 in Murrysville around 3:20 a.m.

A woman coming to pick up the store clerk saw the robbers getting away. She was able to give Murrysville Police some idea of the type of getaway car, but was not able to get a license plate number.

Police combed through the store and surveillance video Monday morning hoping to find out who the masked robbers are.

Police had to force their way into the Adultmart in Murrysville after responding to the scene. Police found the clerk handcuffed to a computer stand with handcuffs sold at the store.

“We found the clerk in the back utility room sitting down handcuffed behind him to a computer stand,” Sgt. Chuck Tappe said.

Murrysville Police said two men dressed in black and wearing ski masks barged into the store right before the clerk left for the night.

“They were armed. They pulled a gun on the clerk,” Sgt. Tappe saod.

A woman coming to pick the clerk up, pulled into the parking lot just as the masked men ran out of the store. She witnessed them getting into a dark-colored pickup truck.

“They were able to get into a safe. Cash was taken from the safe. Personal belongings to the clerk, his wallet, things like that, were also taken,” Chief Tom Seefeld said.

Police said the masked men not only got away with an unknown amount of cash, but they also grabbed some of the merchandise before they fled.

The witness saw the men throw two bags full of what is believed to be store merchandise into the back of the truck.

Police are hoping security cameras will help give them a better description of the suspects involved and the vehicle they were seen leaving in.

The clerk was not harmed in the robbery.
