Lightning Strikes Transformer In West View

WEST VIEW (KDKA) – Lightning struck a transformer box on a utility pole in West View early Tuesday morning.

Lightning struck the transformer around 4 a.m. on Stanford Avenue and knocked out power to one home.

The affected family awoke to a loud boom and neighbors saw sparks flying after the strike.

The strike sent voltage and sparks through a power line connected to the house, which caused only minor burns to the siding.

Duquesne Light quickly removed the damaged power line, but service won’t be restored to the home until later in the day.

KDKA will report on such a small incident but repeatedly miss stories that really impact the lives of viewers in outlying counties such as Armstrong! Why is KDKA management so happy to list these counties in their viewing area for marketing reasons, but ignore them when it comes to adequate news coverage?
