EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) – The ribbon cutting is just moments away at the brand new two-story Target in East Liberty.

“You can’t miss it. You can’t miss that bulls eye. That’s the awesome thing about it. They were smart when they built it right here. Everyone in the community can see it so it’s definitely a great store,” Assistant Manager Quinton Thorne said.

“The process really began about six months ago with myself and my HR manager. We have to hire the entire staff, so we hired about 265 team members, most [are] local from the East Liberty area,” Manager Dave Melocchi said.

The ribbon cutting is at the two-story target at Penn Circle took place Tuesday morning. However, revitalization of the neighborhood began more than a year ago when construction started.

Green peppers, avocados and oranges are probably not things you would expect to find in a Target store.

However, you’ll find that and more in their expanded grocery section.

The store will open to customers on Wednesday with the official grand opening on Sunday.
