SUV Crashes Into West MIfflin Home

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) – A woman in West Mifflin got a rude awakening when a SUV slammed into her home early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened in the 500-block of Edgewood Avenue around 1 a.m.

A young woman allegedly lost control of her vehicle, went over a hillside and crashed into the home.

The driver has been identified as Katelin Vescio.

Vescio fled from the scene, but not before the homeowner was able to speak with her.

"I asked her, 'Oh my God, what did you do?' She said, 'I'm sorry I have sleep apnea and I fell asleep.' That was pretty much it. Before I knew it, she just took off down the street," Jan Bereznak said.

Police have since spoken with the driver, but no charges have been filed at this time.

Bereznak has called a restoration service to repair the damage to the home.

"I heard a big crash and something hit me in my forehead and woke me up," Bereznak said.

She was awoken by her alarm clock, which flew off the dresser and hit her in the head.

Vescio is expected to be charged with careless driving
