Local Star Commits To Penn State

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Joe Paterno and Penn State have beaten Pitt for another blue chip WPIAL player.

Three-star Shaler tight end/defensive end J.P. Holtz verbally committed to Penn State today. Holtz announced the decision on his Facebook page.

Holtz was recruited to Penn State by defensive coordinator Tom Bradley.

No word on whether Holtz will play tight end or defensive end at Penn State.

Holtz (6-4, 235 lbs) selected Penn State over offers from Pitt, Michigan State, Purdue, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Syracuse, Rutgers and Connecticut.

Holtz is Penn State's twelfth verbal commitment for the Class of 2012.
