Police Investigate Reported Animal Abuse In Westmoreland Co.

JEANNETTE (KDKA) – Neighbors in one Westmoreland County community are taking extra measures to protect their pets after one dog was shot and another was reportedly poisoned within a week.

Judi Avolio, of Jeannette, said someone shot her 4-year-old schnauzer, Whopper, on three separate occasions with a pellet gun.

The most recent incident happened on July 24 and his wounds are still healing.

A few days later, on Rankin Street, a 9-month-old boxer was found dead after suffering massive internal bleeding.

Amanda Bernard said they found a cut-off milk jug in their yard that they believe contained antifreeze.

Jeannette Police are investigating and neighbors have installed surveillance cameras.

I have known Tyson since he was a month old, he didnt deserve this. No animals deserves on what happened to him. Tyson was a loving, caring animal. He wouldnt hurt a fly. All he ever wanted to do was play. The one main thing that none of us understand is how can someone have enough guts to go into someone else’s yard and then yet, leave the evidence. Tyson was only 9 months old. RIP Tyson!!

The worst part is I have a baby and their are kids in this neighborhood and we need to worry about them getting hit with the pellets or whatever. Also when police were called when the dog was shot they wouldnt come out it took one to be killed before anyone came to do anything and trust they still havnt done much… These animals deserve justice and an investigation into the suspect… There is a man who sits outside and shoots his pellet gun and he is not the nicest person… He should be questioned! What if it was a child?

I am an animal lover and this makes me so angry! Animals are just like humans. Whoever did this needs to be shot back or thrown in the cell where they belong for years! I hope they catch these crazy people!
