Police Investigate Reported Animal Abuse In Westmoreland Co.

JEANNETTE (KDKA) - Neighbors in one Westmoreland County community are taking extra measures to protect their pets after one dog was shot and another was reportedly poisoned within a week.

Judi Avolio, of Jeannette, said someone shot her 4-year-old schnauzer, Whopper, on three separate occasions with a pellet gun.

The most recent incident happened on July 24 and his wounds are still healing.

A few days later, on Rankin Street, a 9-month-old boxer was found dead after suffering massive internal bleeding.

Amanda Bernard said they found a cut-off milk jug in their yard that they believe contained antifreeze.

Jeannette Police are investigating and neighbors have installed surveillance cameras.
