Yorkie Runs Off After Getting Neutered In Castle Shannon

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) — A Yorkie named Ziggy ran off after he had surgery at the Castle Shannon Animal Hospital.

The dog’s owner and volunteers from the animal hospital searched for him for about four hours.

Jim Robinson, Ziggy’s owner, said he and his girlfriend brought Ziggy to the hospital early Monday morning to get neutered.

The surgery was successful, but he ran off during a post-operative walk.

The dog was found several blocks away under a porch.

Jenna Geary, Robinson’s girlfriend, took the dog back to the vet’s for a checkup and he was fine.

They won’t be charged for Ziggy’s surgery.

This never should have happened… veterinarians today are too negligent when it comes to taking care of our four legged loved ones. My worst nightmare DID come true when I had boarded my beautiful 13 month old black German Shepherd dog with a veterinarian who had indoor boarding kennels. This facility let my dog get hit by a car and did not do what the vet quoted as “life saving surgery” until the day after my little girl was hit. My dog suffered at least one or more broken ribs, a punctured lung, ruptured bladder and more. When the vet finally decided to do the “life saving surgery” a day later, my loved one had 3 cardiac arrests coming out of the anesthesia and died. By the time the state licensing board was able to investigate, I hadn’t realized that my own attorney had me sign my rights away…. holding the veterinarian and staff NOT RESPONSIBLE for the pain, suffering, and death of my canine companion. People…. DOGS ARE CONSIDERED PROPERTY IN PA. In the event of a negligent death, you are only entitled to the “value” of the dog….. to those of us who love our animal companions as our own children, we know the value of our companions is priceless…… this doesn’t matter when it comes to the law.
