Chihuahua Mauled By Pit Bull In Butler Twp.

BUTLER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The Butler County Animal Control Officer told KDKA-TV a Butler Township man will be cited next week for harboring a dangerous dog.

Brian Hindman had four adult pit bulls and seven pit bull puppies in his home, violating a township ordinance which allows only three dogs per household.

Hindman is facing charges after one of his pit bulls attacked a neighbor’s Chihuahua last week and mauled her. The dog, named Daisy, had to be put down.

At the time of the attack, Daisy’s owner, 10-year old Joey Hershberger, was walking her near his home.

“I couldn’t move because I was in shock and then the pit bull came running after Daisy and I tried to bend down to get Daisy, but the pit bull got her, like a chew toy, and it was horrible,” he recalled.

“My son could have lost his life over this, it was my dog, but it could have been my son,” Janine Hershberger, the boy’s mother, said.

KDKA’s Ralph Iannotti tried to talk to Hindman Friday but, someone answering his door said he had no comment.

Police sources say Hindman was cited back in 2009 after two of his pit bulls were roaming free in the neighborhood.

Complete and utter idiocy. Keep your vicious dogs restrained.

she did not let the dog roam the streets, if you listen to the video the lady contradicts herself she says they roam but then she says they are locked in cages all day? um how are they roaming the streets if they are in cages, the dog was loose in the house and a contractor laying carpet left the door open and the dog got out, it was an accident

      1. Anonymous says:

no i didn’t ….All the neighbors on this road had enough so they are all gonna take pics for now on and send them in!!

      2. Anonymous says:

good do that i would love to see the pics, are you going to be taking pics of the other neighbors dogs that are loose too? and are you going to call the media and dog catcher on them too

      3. anonymous says:

But the dog also attacked 2 other neighbors dogs Fortunately those 2 weren’t deadly. Then after the deadly attack happened a bunch of them got loose and chased the kids up the street.

      4. Anonymous says:

it was 8 week old pit/lab puppies that ran after the kids to play dont make it sound like it was another possible attack

      5. Anonymous says:

Really well I’m glad you made that clear since they are selling the puppies as Pittbulls!!! Good to know!!

      6. Anonymous says:

LOL…i’m not about attention!! These people who puppy mill but also lie about their dogs and sell them as real Pittbulls are really the one’s that have been waiting for the attention!!! Oh please do not make me tell you all things that could make these 2 loose their kids!! Keep on putting me and my son down and the dirty laundry will be out!!!

      7. Anonymous says:

ok, them fostering another dog that has puppies isnt them being a backyard breeder, are you really that stupid, really! and they are advertised as pit mix puppies, because the mom is a pit and they dont know what the dad is but they dont even look like pits they look like pure black labs, and yes there is an adoption fee for the dogs guess what brian and tina dont get that money, it goes to the rescue group that the dog and puppies belong to, so how is that being backyard breeders?

      8. anonymous says:

these mght not be their litter but this uisnt the first or second or even 3rd litter in this home, so yes back yard breeders.

      9. Anonymous says:

so 4 litters of puppies in 8 YEARS in a backyard Breeder?…Why don’t you go down to Bessemer and talk to the guys that ALWAYS has pups…HE IS A PUPPY MILL!!…i’m sure he will even tell you that 4 litters in 8 years is not a backyard breeder

      10. Anonymous says:

funny everyone hates pitts but labs are the most aggressive dogs, maybe we should start forcing people to put their labs down too!

ya 4 litters in 8 yrs is a back yard breeder and not a very responsible dog owner, have you looked @ humane soc lately! fix your dogs and there wouldnt be 4 litters!!!!!

if another dog chases my kid then yes I may!!! They are caged up all the time so what do you expect them to do if they get loose? Come on this is going no where the dog got loose ( and most of the interview wasn’t on the tv) Their dog killed my dog end of discussion…So she tells people dirty laundtry about me hers is about to be exposed!!!! I am not a bad person nor are my kids!! Also her and Brian were having problems before this so all of her “so called” friends must not know much about her!!

      1. angie says:

hopefully both of those 2 exs take the kids outa there too and the judge takes the dogs.

      2. Anonymous says:

the dogs have never attacked a person ever!!!!!! the only ones that ever ran after your kid was 8 week old puppies trying to play!!! its like the one person said earlier you are all about attention!! please quick lets call the news and tell them how puppies tried to play with your kids, im sure that would make a great story too

    3. peopleareignorant says:

OMG it sounds like AN ACCIDENT . . . SOMEONE working in the house accidentally left the DOOR OPEN . . . UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Anonymous says:

Not the first time these dogs got loose though is the point!!! If they knew workers were gonna be in and out of the house the dog should have been restrained not roaming especially with the history!!!! And the kids in that neighborhood used to be able to ride their bikes and play freely…..Not the case anymore the parents are too afraid to let them do so!!!!!

    4. Anonymous says:

heh thats funny last time i walked into a home that had a chihuahua there the dog tried ripping my ankles to shreds anytime i walk into a home with a pitbull the dogs love me to death! just saying

      1. JANINE says:

Funny then you never met my dog who ran to the front door and rolled over on her back for anyone stranger to rub her belly!! You werent in my house or know my dog that was killed

    5. Concerned city dweller says:

Butler is being over run with pit bulls. Seriously, drive down a couple of the main streets in Butler during the day, and you are almost guaranteed to see one young adult walking a pit bull. It is only a matter of time until a child is mauled or even worse, killed. There needs to be a ban on known aggressive dog breeds, at least in the city. Is the maiming or death of a child really what it’s going to take to open everyone’s eyes?

    6. Anonymous says:

This country needs to either ban or severely regulate pit bulls and other dangerous dogs like they do in Europe. In Germany if your pitbull can’t pass a test they set up it is taken away and put down. They need to start charging the owners for any crimes these animals do.

  2. Margie says:

It still doesn’t solve the problem the dog needs to be put down

    1. Anonymous says:

I own a Rott. They have the same rep as a pitbull. I can not get decent insurance because of her, she is not dog, food or people agressive, but you never ever hear of german shepards, labs, or smaller dogs biting people and it happens all the time. Personally I am sick of just hearing about pitbulls. Its not the breed, its the freaking owners. People need to get a grip, they are a dog that needs lots of love and care, and socializing when they are pups. Just like any other type of dog!

      1. Charles says:

Wrong. A woman in Donora who raised 3 pitbulls and gave them everything they wanted was killed when all 3 turned on her. These dogs were bred for fighting and it’s in their blood no matter how you treat them.

      2. Anonymous says:

amen!!! i had a poodle killed by another poodle and no one did or said anything just blew it off, if a german shepard attacks something defending its yard and family they are good dogs, but this pittbull attacked another dog defending its family then its a crime

      3. Anonymous says:

aww really i love rotties i had 2 before i got a pit! its not the breeds fault its the owener!

      4. anonymous says:

The Pittbull was not defending its family it was an innocent child walking his dog on a leash and the Pitt Bull attacked his dog!!!!! And yes I agree it is all about the owner and the way they are raised!!!!!!

      5. Anonymous says:

The point is that this isn’t the first time this dog has attacked or has got loose!!! Doesn’t matter if it is a Pitt or not!!!

    2. Carrie C. says:

I saw where someone saying owning a pitbull is stupid? how about you are the misinformed one! do you carry your racism to the rest of the world and if you do, you are the one I feel sorry for!!!

These dogs are not to blame!! PERIOD! HOW about you are stupid for having such a closed mind!

Get over yourself !!! this happened, its in the past and things are being done to rectify the situation or do I need to speak in more plain terms!!!

I have friends with PIts, and they are the best dogs, I do not even fear my children being around them!

  3. louann says:

i personally know this dog, yes she is animal aggressive from being attacked herself as a pup, she is however not people aggressive, the only reason this was on news is because of breed, yes she should have been restrained on lease or chain and im not making excuses she should be put down but to know the dog she was wonderful when i seen her.

    1. Anonymous says:

I called the news because my dog is gone now and my 10 year old son had to witness this attack!! I don’t care what kind of dog it was it should not of happened and now my son has to go to couseling over this!! I wish people had a heart instead of defending these deadly animals!!

      1. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

be upset at the situation for this particular dog, not the breed. my neighbors have 2 chis and they are viscous, biting anyone who enters their yard. it is heartbreaking for you and your family, especially your son.. i cant imagine witnessing that. my \heart really hurts for you.. but i am a networker and work heavily in the rescue of pitbulls and your case and experience with this dog doesnt mirror the rest of the breed. ill be praying for you and your son.

      2. louann says:

i also know you and im in no way saying its rght i agree harley should have been no where outside without a leash or chain and i feel horrible that your family is going through this, i lived there for 3 yrs with these dogs and they never showed any aggression towards people and harley was never allowed outside, i dont know about the whole carpet thing but if thats true she should have been put somewhere knowing the doors would be open and closed, i no longer speak to him. i do have to say as much as i love the breed i believe when u have a male and female in house atleast 1 or more should be fixed to stop all the breeding. like i said before she should be put down and its ashame that this had to happen because to know that dog is to love her.

      3. christine says:

get over yourself if you really cared you wouldnt of waited a week to call, you just wanted your 30 seconds of fame, people like you make me sick, you have no rights being a dog owner or a parent quit drinking your beer everyday and watch your kids and your dog and maybe it wouldnt of happened, that or how about dont sit and talk bad about my friend and her dogs when she is trying to do what is right and feels bad enough about what happened

      4. Anonymous says:

Hey Christine I didn’t want fame!! I called when it happened and they only came over when they did. I don’t think you want to open up anymore bag of worms sweetheart!! I do watch my kids!!! My son has every right to walk my dog at 11 am and not have to worry about a pitt bull attacking his dog which was on a leash!!! Also * of her dogs got loose 5 days later and chased my son. So maybe get YOUR facts straight get over YOURSELF and trust me don’t open up a can of worms cuz you will not be happy with out come Thanks!!

      5. Anonymous says:

One more thing Christine…If I’m so bad then why have I watched her children numerous times??? She knows I drink and didn’t have a problem with it so why should you? This is about my dog being killed not anything else!!!

      6. margie says:

christine why would you be defending you must be jealous of neen that her kids are always clean and dressed properly thats had nothing to do with this evenif she kept her dog tied to the door it was restrained theirs wasn.t big deal she likes to drink beer she is no slush this is something joey should not of witnessed he had everyright to be where he was the pitt didn.t It seems neen must of told you off once or twice but by your comment I can tell you are not a person I could like maybe you and you r friend should move far far away so you will not be a threat to neighbors

      7. christine says:

ok, one she has nothing to do with what i said this is me talking not her, i have met you a few times and you were drunk everytime and told me everytime how you are an alcoholic, ive watched your boyfriend drive up and down the road drunk on his riding lawn mower throwing beer cans everywhere so yea thats a problem but u dont see her running to your husband causing you problems or calling the police on you or what not, and it was all about the fame, you called the dog catcher and you were handling it civilly with her she was gonna put her dog down that night but shes not allowed by law she has to guarantee it, she is getting rid of the other female she has just for you as well plus the mom and puppies she is fostering for the rescue group will be gone too, and she flat out told you she would pay the vet bill and you told her no but she still insisted, and is going to pay it she feels bad for what happened and is trying to make it as right as possible and you are doing everything you can to keep her from righting it, and its funny you called the news crew the night it happened, yet you sent her text after text telling her how you knew it was an accident and how you would never sue her or anything cuz you wouldnt want to hurt her or make the situation worse but you couldnt tell her you did make the situation worse by calling the media for no reason when the problem is handled

      8. christine says:

i am completely and totally sorry your dog died and im so sorry your child had to see it no child ever should have to see that and i understand the pain and everything else please dont think im trying to say that its ok that your dog died because i am not, but you know her dogs, you let your kid play over there, and everything else, i just dont understand why when you were trying to handle everything with her and she was trying to take care of the problem why you had to make the situation worse esp when you know they are so upset and feel so bad about what happened and you even said yourself you knew it was an accident, so why make it seem so much worse than what it is, like shes a bad pet owner or that the dogs are bad or that it was intentional

      9. Anonymous says:

She offered to pay with her child support!! He should pay not her!!! That dog was NEVER raoming wihen my kids and I were there!!! I let her know I called on weds cuz there was no one home and 8 of them chased my son!!! There is a problem!!!! Now I didn’t put her dirty laundry up cuz that is sooo immature so enough is enough!!! This is about my dog getting killed and my son witnessing it nothing else so Tina has my number she can give it to who ever and you can fight with me over the phone or she can or even her daughter!!! They were wrong not me!!

      10. Anonymous says:

Christine I was only at her house 1 time when she had people over so don’t no what your talking about I’m always drunk!!! Also this happened friday afternoon and yes she said she was putting the dog down THAT night…but late Saturday afternoon the dog was still there!!! See where I’m coming from I was nice but don’t enjoy being lied to and you are also being lied to!!!

      11. Tracy says:

Anonymous , You are absolutely right. Pit Bulls are very aggressive dogs. I feel you had every right to contact the media and raise awareness of this incident. It’s a known fact that these dogs are aggressive. It’s irrelevant if this pit bull is not people aggressive. It’s obviously aggressive and should be contained. There are records indicating that the owner was cited in 2009 for letting his animals roam free. Whoever this owner is…..is irresponsible and does not deserve to own a dog.

My heart aches for you and your son.. A pit attacked my two dogs several years ago, and I am still not over the shock and horror of it. PA and local laws state dogs must be under control at all times, but many people don’t care about the danger they pose. Your neighbor sounds like an idiot – backyard breeder of pits. Allowing intact male pits, or any dog. to roam the neighborhood. I hope the law whacks him good.

no his dogs where inside a contractor laying carpet in her house left the door open and she got out, it was a total accident, you dont know the whole story, and yes a owner should have complete control of their dog and she knows it was her fault n they are paying the bills and putting the dog down they take full responsibility for their dogs actions but they werent mean dogs and they arent back yard breeders and they were just letting the dog roam

  5. Anonymous says:

Don’t blame the dog blame the owner. If it was my dog or cat that got mauled I would make sure the owner spent some time in jail and if justice failed I would prob take matters into my own hands because thats bs.

    1. peopleareignorant says:

First of all, WHY is ok that cat owners let their cats run the streets and pee all over other peoples properties??? IT ISN’T!!!!!!!!!! If you cat got killed then it’s YOUR FAULT for letting it roam free . . .

    1. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

i wish the guy had a proper fence… ive been to his house he isnt a bad guy he helped rescue a mamma pit down for euthanization while pregnant and im adopting one of the puppies. its horrible that poor little dog died and i dont understand why as his dog was fine with 7 little puppies and a cat running around. it is only fair he gets put down, just depressed this had to ever happen for both parties involved. hopefully he will have a fence installed.. but after this he apparently isnt getting another dog again.

you are so wrong if most dogs get out they just run around they don.t run out to the street and grab another dog and start throwing it around like a dog toy jo0ey could of been next if the neighbor would not of had him drop the lead the dog is mean and was not controlled properly and this is not the first time there was probalems before and the way they cage them and feed them is only making them more aggressive the dog has to be put down due to the owner neglegence

    4. Anonymous says:

Point is the dog should not have left the yard in the first place. I have a very protective german shepherd and I am always with him outside. He is always chained or on a leash. When he is chained he is on a run and we play fetch or he goes in his pool. Our neighbors have dogs and children and if anything would ever happen I would never forgive myself. He is trained not to leave the yard but there is always someone with him at all times because he is a DOG! Anything can happen and its the responsible thing to do! If a dog shows aggression to other animals it can at any time without warning turn on its owner, children or neighbors. Even if its the most friendly dog in the world! I have bred shepherds and grew up with them all my life and I have seen what they can do. Some are more aggressive than others but you need to know your animal and be responsible!

  11. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

    here here. agreed.

  12. Anonymous says:

The dog escaped out the door when workmen left it unlatched. The dog is being put down when animal control and the judge say we can. And the dog being a Pit is why all this hype is going on…if it wasn’t then the breed wouldn’t have been mentioned on the news. She has NEVER attacked a person and just so everyone knows..THE ATTACK WAS A WEEK AGO!…and it was brought to my attention that there was a comment made on the news about my dogs running the neighborhood but you can’t understand why we have them because they are always caged up….so I guess tying your “beloved” family pet to the back door all the time is better?

    1. Anonymous says:

omg yea her dogs are so mean and so aggressive that my two year old plays with them all the time, no def not mean dogs, they just dont like strange animals which alot of dogs dont, its not the breed and its not the owner, and yea she really loved that dog so much man she left it tied up all day in the heat on a short leash where it couldnt move yet the owner of the pit is wrong

btw: I have 3 dogs, but if they got out of my fence and killed another animal or bit someone, I’d expect to lose them!

  14. Charles says:

i used to live on Mt Washington. I was attacked by a rot once. In addition, many pitbulls being walked by their owners who LOVE the so called intimidation factor when they walked by. No problems here. After the rot attack, I was prepared for any situation whatsoever. II won’t tell you how.

but at least her dog was under control. The fact is that our children are not able to play outside in their own neighborhood because they have dogs (Pitbulls or not) that have gotten out twice now within a week. Once with a deadly outcome and second with a close call. After witnessing the Pitbull killing his dog,, I’m sure the 10 yr old saw those dogs coming after him, and was scared for his life. I’m not quite sure why there is so much turmoil here. The law needs to do something about it.

    2. Anonymous says:

lol again before you post get the facts!!! They are being charged for the dogs they do not have a liscence to foster!!! If the did they would not be being charged for having 11 dogs when they are only alowed 3…Skyler you really nedd to take you own advise and maybe treat your mom with respect more often!!!

      3. SARAH says:

Janine its not worth working yourself or family up by replying to childish people there is a thing called karma and it will come back and bite them. Hopefully you and your neighbors all get together and have a petion like guy above stated and be in the court when the hearing is held. demand they remove all of the dogs from the home, and if your house or children are being messed with you call the cops everytime it happens, i used to have neighbors like them and was so glad when the moved. and i agree i would take pictures everytime those dogs are out or loose there is no excuse for poor dog ownership.

      6. responsibleowner says:

how about posting a web site MORE than one website and espeically NOT one in favor of pit bulls. Here’s one for you:

        http://www.petsdo.com/blog/top-ten-10-most-dangerous-dog-breeds
        and another . . .

        http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2010/11/03/most-dangerous-dog-breeds.html

        and another . . .

        http://www.dogs-names.net/dangerous-dog-breeds.html

My point, DON’T get your information from just ONE website where YOU could have made up.

      7. Anonymous says:

they are not pitbull favorable they are all dog favorable, read the actual site, in fact this is the very last thing on the page

After reviewing this blog post and its many examples, now you know why pit bulls — responsible for roughly 50% of all fatal attacks — score better than Lassie. I did not come to this conclusion quickly. I spent about a year researching the ATTS. In addition to reading every ATTS related thread on every pit bull forum on the internet, I also looked into other breed forums. I found nothing on the other breed forums that even remotely resembled the machinations of the pit bull apologia.

Anyone one with a high school education should be able to see the fallibilities of the ATTS. Yet a few of the gifted and educated, some with advanced degrees still promote the ATTS as a test with “scientific” value.

      8. MsCynic says:

Sorry but arguing the ATTS test is a good judge of character is irresponsible at best! The ATTS test does not (at any point) test for dog on dog aggression, so not relevant for this discussion whatsoever. Plus, it’s a temperament test used for Schutzhund (police/protection) trained dogs – this is not a test that your average dog WOULD pass. Aggression towards and protecting you from a ‘threatening’ stranger is encouraged!

I’m not biased against Pits, but I am informed about the test – my dog just took it in preparation for Schutzhund competition.

THE POINT IS THE DOG ATTACKED ANOTHER DOG THAT WAS ON A LEASH BEING HELD BY A CHILD AND THAT CHILD WATCHED IT AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS AND HAS BEEN SCARED FOR QUIET AWHILE OF THESE DOGS, THERE ARE 11 DOGS IN THAT HOME THE LAW STATES 3, U DONT FOSTER MORE DOGS WHEN U HAVE 3 ALREADY, AND THE FACT THAT THE DOG WAS ANIMAL AGGRESSIVE MAKES IT WORSE AND WHO KNOWS IF THE OTHER 2 (NOT INCLUDING THE FOSTER) ARE ANIMAL AGGRESSIVE OR PEOPLE AGGRESSIVE FOR THAT MATTER, IF YOUR GONNA OWN A DOG THAT HAS AGGRESSIVE TRAITS YOU DONT OWN IT IN A NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE THERE ARE CHILDREN AND OTHER ANIMALS MOVE TO THE COUNTRY. AND I SEEN ABOVE THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE VET BILLS WHAT ABOUT THIS LITTLE BOY SEEING THE OTHER DOGS (PITS OR NOT) HE WILL BE SCARED FOR ALONG TIME. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO REMOVE ALL DOGS FROM THE HOME. AND SEEN ABOVE THEY WERE SAYING 4 LITTERS IN 8YRS ISNT A BACK YARD BREEDER, DO THEY HAVE A BREEDERS LICENSE? PROB NOT WHICH DOES MAKE THEM BACK YARD BREEDERS, WHEN THOSE DOGS R BRED OVER AND OVER AGAIN MOSTLY INNER BRED YOU GET WHAT U BREED. FIX YOUR DOGS BEFORE THEY BREED. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A CONTRACTOR THERE BUT THATS NO EXCUSE FOR POOR OWNERSHIP OF AN AGGRESSIVE DOG. AS FAR AS ALL THE POSTS SAYING LADY WITH DOG IS A DRUNK AND THE OTHERS ARE DRUGGIES WELL AS YOU SEE FROM WHICH POSTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED THE LADY THAT SUPPOSEDLY IS A DRUNK HASNT REMOVED ANY POSTS ABOUT HER DRINKING GUILTY PEOPLE HIDE STUFF.

      21. JANINE says:

Thank you and I have never said all pitts are bad. I beleive it is all in how they are raised. ANY dog can be mean if it is raised to be mean. My dog people call ankle biters. I’m sure some are but I raised her to be a cuddle bunny…when anyone came to the door she barked then rolled on her back to have her belly rubbed!!! Like I said it is all in how they are raised. As for Joey hopefully in time he won’t be so afraid but for now it is still very fresh!!

WELL HOPEFULLY THEY ARE OUTSIDE WITH IT AND IT IS CHAINED AND UNTIL IT GOES TO COURT THATS ALL THAT CAN BE DONE BUTLER DOES HAVE A QUARENTINE LAW, THE COUNTY I LIVE IN DOES NOT. 38. Anonymous says:

because both parties are being childish, sounds to me that everything was being taken care of very well by the responsible party, and that the dead dogs owner wanted sympathy and attention, so she called the news and started a bunch of drama which just in turn snowballed, i think people really need to grow up, it obviously was an accident so the owner of the chihuahua needs to except that and stop blowing it out of proportion, she obviously didnt have a problem with the dog before the attack if she was in the same house as it and so was her child, so she should stop saying that the responsible party raised it wrong and the owner of the pit needs to put it down when allowed and pay the vet bills as promised, for gods sake they are neighbors, and have kids how do they expect to live over the next few years if its gonna be like this forever, accidents happen just thank god it was only a dog and not a kid, animals can be replaced, yes they wont ever be the same but they can be

  17. christine says:

first of all the owner of the dog is my friend and he is not a bad person and neither are his dogs my kids play with the pittbulls still to this day, he has so many dogs because he fosters pitbulls for a rescue group first of all which isnt breaking any laws, second off someone doing work on the house, a contractor, left the door open and the dog got out, its not a mean dog, it only attacked the dog thinking it was defending its yard and family, which is what a lot of people teach their dogs to do, to be a good guard dog, its so sad that dog died and my friend has cried to me numerous times because she feels so bad that it happened, but it was an accident, and the dog is not dangerous and the fact that the lady whose dog was killed is now involving the media and everyone else a week after the incedent is bull, my friend planned to put the dog down that nite because she didnt want to have it around and the kids who did own the dead dog and make them have to see her and be reminded of what she did, but she cant by law she has to quaranteen it for 10-15 days, and then it will be put down, and the owner of the dead dog cried to my friend and begged her not to put her dog down the day it happened and said she knows they are good dogs and that it was an accident, and my friend offered to pay the vet bill and she says no dont worry about it ill pay its not a big deal, but my friend is still paying the vet bill, my friend is trying to do all the right things and this lady is changing her mind, her attitude, and her story a little more everyday i understand she lost her dog and she is hurt and so does my friend but why is she doing what she is doing? why wait a week to contact the media? why does she keep changing her mind and story? and why is she trying to make my friends look like bad people and their dogs like bad dogs when she is telling them to their face everything is fine and that the dogs are good dogs, hell i couldnt even begin to count how many times this lady has been around these dogs and left her kids around these dogs

If you have a dog, you are responsponsible for keeping YOUR dog under control. To bad the door was left unlatched for the owner and the Pit, it should have then been caged. Be a responsible owner and take responsibility for your actions or inactions in this matter. I am not biased towards Pits either however, you as a pet owner need to understand the capabilites of your animal. Telling everyone your dog is not human aggressive, really? Come on people, who knows how that dog would have reacted should Joey have picked Daisy up. It is still a dog with a dog mentality. Neen, I am so sorry Joey witnessed this. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.

    1. Anonymous says:

Thank you Melissa the only one talking sense on here….I had 2 cats and because I DIDN’T want them getting out when work was being done on my house I put them in the bedroom until the workers were done and they were just cats!!!!

    2. lacey says:

human aggression and animal aggression is two completely different things, not just in pits but in all animals, you can have cats that love people but hate other cats and would kill another cat if given the opportunitly if the pit was so human aggressive how come it never once bit the kid, it had every opportunity to bite him instead of the dog but didnt, and according to other post it was a stranger doing work on the house that left the door open so how is it the stranger didnt get bitten either while the dog was loose in the house, and yes it is very sad what happened i feel for them and the pain they must be in losing their pet and my heart especially aches for the little boy who had to watch it all, but any and all animals can be either one or the other or both or neither, and yes its a good thing that kid didnt pick the dog up because everyone knows what ANY dog would do if it was fighting another dog, reguardless of how nice the dog is, BUT just because a dog might bite a person while fighting another dog doesnt mean that the dog is human aggressive there is a difference between a dog wanting to kill or harm a person verses it accidently hurting a person while fighting another dog, that is what people are talking about when they say human aggressive, not that it wouldnt of happened or couldnt of happened on accident

      1. Melissa R. says:

I never once said that the dog was human aggressive but at any given time, any dog, Pit, Rott or the nicest lab in the world, can bite someone for any number of reasons. People need to understand that. When someone walks up to my dogs and they say “Do they bite?”, my answer is always “They haven’t yet.” I was simply stating the dog could have easily mauled Joey should he have picked up Daisy because the he had the dog in his arms. I am not against Pits at all as I had a lab/pit mix, understand that. BUT the people KNEW she was animal aggressive and if you KNOW your pet is aggressive towards other animals, YOU, as a responsible pet owner makes every single effort to ensure YOUR pet doesn’t attack another animal. If it means caging the dog for a few hours until the worker is gone, so be it. I had a male lab/pit mix. He was extrememly aggressive towards other animals and towards men. So when people came over, I made sure he was crated because I knew his capabilities. And you are responsible for not letting your animal roam at large…it is a law in Pennsylvania.

ok obviously you didnt read my comment, your words were “Telling everyone your dog is not human aggressive, really? Come on people, who knows how that dog would have reacted should Joey have picked Daisy up” and i said a dog biting someone when it is fighting another dog doesnt mean its human aggressive, human aggressive means they want to attack all humans all the time… and ok so if someone walks up to your dog and you say that and it does turn around and bite someone does it make you a bad owner because you couldnt control your dog? because according to people on here is every pet owner should know what their dog is capable of and no accidents should ever happen, ever. yes any dog can bite at anytime it doesnt mean that the owner is bad or that the dog is bad it means that its an animal, and im sorry no one NO ONE can say that they have complete and total control of their animal all day everyday, its an animal, and ok so say your dog that was aggressive was in your house relaxing and a female family member comes over to visit and doesnt close your door all the way, they think they did but they didnt, and you think they did to but they didnt and it would of gotten out and bit someone would that of made you a bad owner? or that dog a bad dog? and im pretty sure i have seen numerous comments on here from the owner stating that she takes responsiblity, they are going to pay the bills, they are going to put their dog down once by law she is allowed, so how is it that she is not taking responsibility? sounds to me that she is being very responsible and trying to take care of everything, and again yes it is so sad about everything that happened but at some point people are going to have to realize everything that can be done is being done, and sometimes no matter how good of an owner you are or how good of a dog you have sometimes accidents happen, its tragic but its true!

before i say this just so u know i really did live in this neighborhood and know these people, the owner is in a band he hangs drywalll and has 4 kids. janines drinking has nothing to do with what happenned so to put that on internet just shows how childish u are and ur friend are. harley (yes) i know the dogs name will be put down as she should be but if it werent for someone paying attention knowing she is animal aggressive it wouldnt have happenned. and the incident in aug 2009 was for rabies tags if it would have been investigated correctly the truth would be on here. the only ones that r gonna hurt are the kids on both sides of this story, his 2 little ones grew up with that dog. as far as being in cage all time , sorry but that is true all 3 of them. i personally have 2 pitbulls and a jack russel and its not my pits i worry about. all of the dogs should be fixed and not be breed AGAIN!!! as far as the poor little boy that had to see it yes thats gonna effect him for a long time but putting it on the news for all to see isnt gonna help him cause now people in school will bring it up and he has to relive it over again. so nobody is in the rght this time.

these are the kind of comments people make looking for an argument bc they have nothing better to do with their lonely pathetic lives. i defend and network pitbulls bc my best friend for 3 years was the pitbull my ex had rescued when we were together. even through the abuse both pit and i had received he remained the most loving and loyal dog, and has left such an impact on my life i spend every day doing what i can to better the lives of these animals. they get a bad rap due to stupid people. yes they are called pitbulls bc they were bread way back when as a cross of a terrier and bulldog meant to be the ultimate fighter in pit dog fights.. hence the pitbull terrier. rottweilers have more jaw power. it comes down to physical structure that they are capable of powerful attack, not their mental structure. if you’re capable of judging an animal and placing all other animals alike in the same category to which you’ve judged them you’re likely also a racist and discriminatory ignorant ass. do some research on the american kennel club and see how many perfect canine awards the pitbull has one. nearly half or more of roughly 20-30 ever given out. .

a dog attacking another dog doesnt deem it as a dangerous animal and ill tell you now that if this is the only reported dog attack, they will not make them put the dog down, i had a pit and they didnt make me put mine down when mine killed the neighbors dog because their reason behind it is they dont make other dog owners put theirs down when an accident happens so therefore pits are not treated any different then other dogs, i did personally choose to put the dog down because i wanted to he was almost 13 years old he lived a long life and i didnt want my neighbor to have to see him after that attack but i wasnt forced to put him down and he wasnt deemed a dangerous dog, now if he would of bite a person then i was told it probably would of been a different out come

Thank you sooo much I appreciate your comment!!

  35. Anonymous says:

My comment is this…I am an owner of a DOG aggresive pit pull. He is contained & controlled AT ALL TIMES. Much responsinility comes with owning a pit bull. If you can’t contain & contol him, YOU SHOULDN”T OWN ONE. Also, to try to transfer the blame to the owner of the dog that dog that dog mauled makes you a pretty inhumane person. To make it short, you don’t know how to controll your animal therefore you shouldn’t own one.

  36. Anonymous says:

People should be responsible for thier pets & take responsibility for thier pets actions…OR DON’T HAVE ONE. Also, what kind of person tries to transfer the blame of thier dogs actions to a 10 year old kid?

Dogs wanna do what they are bred to do. I have a husky, it’s in its nature to run. golden retrievers fetch and border collies herd. When you have a dog with any strong instinct and you train it against its nature, you have an unhappy and confused dog. These dogs were bred for fighting. Unfortunately, it’s not legal anymore

    1. peopleareignorant says:

UNFORTUNATELY it’s not legal anymore?? I tell you what I’ll put YOUR IGNORANT SELF in the middle of a ring with a trained to fight pitbull, rotti or GSD and lets see how far that attitude gets you!

  38. angie says:

wow! that neighborhood will never change! who cares is brian & tina have personal issues, who cares is janine drinks and her boyfriend si drives hs tractor up and down the road, your kids all have to live there on the same road and ride the same bus, think about the kids for once and the animals neither of which should have to die or have passed because someone cant handle having that many kids and that many animals in a house. no they shouldnt have that many dogs in home with that many people there is no rm for dogs to get alone space.

    1. Janine says:

So true Thank you!! The point is my dog got killed by their dog…dirty laundry doesn’t need to be thrown out on her!! I’m holding back. I was nice only saying they had problems before this!! People need to take responsibility for what was done and quit blaming everyone else!!!

  39. responsible dog owner says:

when u all go to court and that poor little boy tells the judge game over. then u can file civil suit and move on and hopefully the little boy doesnt see all pits the way he seen this one cause they rnt all aggressive

Thank you!! Was hoping it wouldn’t come to that but seeing how they will not except what happened was their fault and not my sons…and now they want to mess with my house I guess things may have to get more serious now

      1. DOG OWNER says:

MESSING WITH YOUR HOUSE IS CHILDISH AND I CAN JUST GUESS THEY SENT THE CHILDREN TO DO IT . JUST MAKE SURE YOUR IN THE COURT ROOM AND TAKE LETTERS FROM OTHER NEIGHBORS AND MAYBE THERE WILL BE NO DOGS IN THAT HOME.

no apology is gonna take that memory from that childs mind, this dog was known to be animal aggressive and should have been put where she couldnt get out knowing there would be workers in and out, u r not a responsible pet owner.

oh yes I’m taking note and now have neighbors watching my house!!! They are not funny nor are their friends!! They are in trouble for their own doings not me and my son!!! 1. anonymous says:

If you know these parents are doing things that may harm their children, than I feel something does need done. I don’t think you should be holding this as leaverage to make them stop the harassment. In all of this mess, the most important issue keeps getting lost–both families have children that have lost or will be losing their pet.

He’s not being cited for having 11 dogs is being cited for the attack on the Chihuahua. Animal control already said that they don’t care about the puppies or the mom dog that he’s fostering for the rescue. They’re not his dogs and they’re not licensed to him he simply fostering and they don’t care about that. Second, you don’t need a licensed foster.

You say they don’t need a license to foster but read up where she post that she does have a license to foster!!?? This is why I am telling the truth not her!!! They are being cited (just like the news said) for having 11 dogs when they are only alowed 3!! If they had a license they would not be being cited for 11

      3. Anonymous says:

um, its been almost 2 weeks since this happened, if there was a problem with the amount of dogs on her property then why hasnt animal control just taken them? i believe that is what animal control and stuff does when they have an issue with the amount of animals on your property, they give you usually so many hours to remove them, and how can you speak for the dog catcher when you arent there at their house when he is there and he doesnt talk to you at all when he is there, when he is done talking to the family and only checking on the one dog that was involved he leaves, and how can you say all this stuff about the dog not having rabies shots and everything else, i know for a fact she does have her shots, all her animals do, im sure if you bothered to ask to see the papers she would be glad to show you, just like she showed the dog catcher, as far as not having a rabies shot, that was what he got a citation for years ago on the dog which was later dropped, that dog has no past history of an attack, and if you claim it did wheres the reports? wheres the proof? there is none

    2. DOG OWNER says:

WHAT KIND OF RESCUE WOULD NOT CHECK ON HIS PAST RECORDS OF DOGS WONDERING AND NOT HAVING RABIES TAGS? THEY SHOULDNT HAVE ANY ANIMALS. AND YES THEY R TRYING TO SELL THEM AS FULL PITS WHEN THEY R NOT, AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST LITTER THESE DOGS HAVE HAD.

      1. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

NO THEY ARE NOT SELLING THEM. THE MOTHER AND PUPPIES ARE BEING FOSTERED BY THEM, ITS MY FRIENDS RESCUE, AND IM ADOPTING ONE OF THEM, THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE!!!!! THE RESCUE HAS PAID FOR ALL THE PROPER VET CARE FOR THE MOM AND PUPPIES

      2. Anonymous says:

um they did have all the shots on their dogs that was a wrong part on the news they have all the paperwork, the only thing they didnt have was one of the registered which they got a fine for that

      3. JANINE says:

When they get the fine this week it will all come out!! No they didn’t have their shots is why Harley is quarentine to make sure she doesn’t have Rabies!!! Since my dog has been killed i’m sure they have been taken to the vet but before this NOPE!!

      4. Anonymous says:

YES HARLEY IS UP TO DATE…SHE HAD A 3 YEAR RABIES SHOT IN 2009!!

      5. Anonymous says:

he has no past dog problems, he was cleared of his one rabie citation, and um no they are not they are posted as pit mixes, can you please tell me what rescue group it is that is posting them as full pits? and where it says that at, because i would love to see it for myself where it says they are full pits, and omg they do have rabies shots they arent due for shots until 2012

      6. janine says:

Well then I guess we should just call animal control a lier and I guess they will be fighting their citation for the dog NOT have the shot

    3. Anonymous says:

Please re look at the video they are being cited for all of them because they are only alowed 3!!

  41. Janine says:

Here’s something to think about!!! If they have license for these dogs then lets see the homeowners which shows they are insured for these dogs!!!

  42. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

OMG they are not selling those puppies they are fostering the puppies and the mother through a rescue that my friend owns and runs, and im adopting one of them!! they arent getting paid to do it, they arent selling the puppies, and they are all up to date on all shots and vet care. leave them alone about those puppies because they did it out of the goodness of their hearts, 8 puppies and a mom is a whole lot to take on and especially without pay.

    1. Anonymous says:

Well I guess I know more than you!!

      1. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

then dont be so anonymous. speak up and inform me. bc if theyre trying to make money off my friends rescue im gonna be pretty unhappy. i cant see how any of this would be possible bc home checks are to be done on all dogs and they fill out applications with background checks before adoptions go through and he would notice if any of the puppies went missing. but im gonna make sure he is aware so that no one in the surrounding area adopts so that theres no risk of a profit being made as a result. unless they were informing of some sort of adioption fee? what price exactly are you talking about?

    2. Anonymous says:

yes they are!!! They have told people how much they are worth and apparently lied because we were all told (those of us interested) that they were pittbulls!!

      1. KELL says:

YEP I WAS TOLD SAME THING

    3. Kaytee Kaylovespitbulls says:

the rescue had two other fosters lined up, a foster and a backup foster. both of which backed out last minute after taking on other pits to foster in other last minute rescues. my friend has made many trips to that house checking on the mom and puppies and has known the owners for a while. i cant speak for how many kids or other dogs they had, i just know my friend works very hard with his rescue and took on the cost of caring for 9 dogs and all vetting. he would never leave them anywhere he found to be unfit. his rescue has nothing to do with this attack and theres no reason to insult his rescue. there are a lot of people committed to the breed and will take on many fosters all at once. its not uncommon, which is why they werent cited for it. im heading from philly to pit in under 2 weeks and will be adopting my puppy then, as well as networking the little guys and girls like crazy for them to find good forever homes. just leave the little guys and mom out of all this. they’re all innocent.

I live in the neighborhood and I really don’t care if they own these dogs, fostering these dogs, or selling these dogs. My only concern is our children. Why does one family ahve a right to “foster” these dangerous dogs which keeps our children from enjoying the last days of their summer break. I want the dogs gone-fostering or not!

      1. sam says:

the foster and puppies will go of course they are fosters not permanent, and if the dog that did the attack doesnt have past attacks against him, then the judge will probably not make him put him down, as for the other dogs that he owns they are his forever to stay, it is not possible to ban dogs from a owner with out several attacks and what not, and you guys should really read up on laws and regulations, my uncles dog was deemed vicious by a judge and he still didnt have to put it down, but everytime he left him out he had to have a muzzle on and that was it

  43. ANGIE says:

WITH 8 PEOPLE LIVING IN THE HOME AND 6 CHILDREN WHY WOULD A RESCUE ADD 8 MORE PETS INTO THAT HOME? IS HARLEY UPT ON SHOTS AND RABIES WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 2 ADULT DOGS THAT WERE THERE BEFORE THE RESCUE? WAS IT EVEN CHECKED, IF YOU CANT TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN YOU DONT BRING MORE IN.

um 4 litters of puppies in 8 to 10 years really thats alot? i no alot of breeders who breed their dogs 2 times a year and sell the puppies, because they are registered with papers, and blah blah, well his has papers to and are registered dogs as well so god forbid he had 4 litters of puppies in that many years

  47. Janine says:

I will not leave any of them out of this!! They can’t control them!! They have you and others saying things about my family that are soooo rude!!! This will all be taken care of threw the courts

  48. Anonymous says:

For thosse of you who say it’s the breed, let me put this out there: I was attacked by a pit & had my leg mauled BECAUSE OF AN AGGRESSIVE OWNER. I now own a pit bull. It’s not the breed, it’s the owner. And to the owner of this particular owner…are you saying your dog attacking had something to do with the fact that the other dogs; owner drinks beer everyday? Please!!

  49. Tammie says:

I have an animal aggressive GSD and if she got out and killed a dog on someone else’s property then I would be responsible for the death, AS I SHOULD BE!!!!!!!!!! However we live in the country and keep her on OUR property whereas our neighbors let their dogs run free. If she gets one of their dogs then its THAT OWNERS fault as we’ve told them over and over that our dog HATES other dogs but they still let it roam onto our property.

No matter what, it’s the owners who are responsible, accident or not. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners. If you get a breed like a Rotti, pit or GSD then as an owner you MUST take all precautions to ensure it is kept secured and is PROPERTLY SOCIALIZED AND TRAINED!!!!!!!!! My dog has a high prey drive but we take every precaution to keep her on our 5 acres but if other owners do not then that is their problem. I hat eto see any animal injured but I am not going to get in between 2 dogs and get hurt myself over other owerns stupidity!

  50. Jim says:

I live at the other end of colleen street and have witnessed the large white pit running down the road with one of the kids chasing it that is a large dog at the time i seen it i made my child come in the house and after seeing this on news they should be made to get rid of them period!!!! all of them!!!!

  51. FixPGH says:

    Listen, you tools!

The media ONLY reports Pit Bull maulings. Statistically German Shepards have KILLED more people than Pit Bulls and if you actually did research instead of believing one site – you’d know this!

I believe PIttsburgh hates animals. Not only can you not find a place to rent because nobody allows pets but I have never seen so many news reports about animal abuse in any other city I have lived in!

Back to Pit Bulls. The owners are the ones that train them to be vicious. Most owners are ghetto creeps that want some big bad dog. More intelligent people treat their Pit Bulls like babies. Yes, sometimes the babied bulls will attack their owners but how many times do other dogs (even cats) attack? Many many many times! We just never hear about it because the media just wants to focus on one thing and create a huge scare in us – which they do often on many different situations.

So please, do actual homework. How many times have Police shot a family dog because they felt “threatened” when in reality they shot it for no reason, just to shoot something.

Wise up, stop believing the media and oh yeah, KDKA..STOP REPORTING PIT BULL MAULINGS. Either report every single dog attack no matter the bread or don’t report anything at all! You’re fueling the fire!

And to all those “mothers.” Some of you are so stupid. Constantly hovering over your kid sterilizing them so they will be sicker than anyone else. I didn’t even read the 175 comments on here but I scrolled through I saw stuff about “MY CHILDREN!!!” and “I WILL FOR MY CHILDREN!” Calm down and shut up.

    1. JANINE says:

I made a point to let channel 2 know this was about what happens to these poor kids that have to witness this not that is was a pittbull!!! They did an amazing job letting the media see this. Bottom line if a pittbull or any other dog is raised to be mean they will be!!! Every channel reports these not just channel 2!!

      1. christine says:

really, that dog was so mean that you and your kid stood beside it at tina and brians house while it ran loose at brians birthday party,, how come it was so nice then and ok to be around your kid, but now all of a sudden its a mean dog that was RAISED that way? which is it, if you supposedly know for a fact that it was raised to be mean, then why go around it yourself and let your kids around her if she was raised to be mean

      2. Anonymous says:

Christine I think you like the sound of your fingers typing!! You have made not one comment on here about anything other than talking about Daisy’s owner. Get it threw your head they were careless with their dog.

      3. christine says:

what did i say that was mean this time, i asked a simple question, she claims the dog was raised mean and that its a dangerous dog and this and that so if this is all true and she really feels that way then why was her son over tinas like 2 weeks before the attack playing around the dogs, and a few months ago at tinas with joey for brians birthday party and around these dogs, me personally as a parent if i knew for a fact that a dog was raised to be mean i wouldnt put mine or my childs life in danager and go around it, so i just wanted to know if she really felt that this was a vicious dog and she knew of all these other horrible attacks and everyone in the neighborhood is scared and has been for a long time and she knows they are scared, then why put your kid in harms way and let him around the dog, and why be friends with and go over to these peoples house all the way up until the day after the attack? idk i guess just as a mom i couldnt understand how if she really felt this negatively about this dog since 09 and that this dog was really this aggressive and mean and what not then how could she willingly let her kid around it? just didnt and still doesnt make sense so i was just asking a question trying to understand it a lil better

  52. Anonymous says:

Listen…the poor kid had dto watch his dog get mauled. The owners of the dog should be held responsible.and try to make right to the family who suffered. Not try to trash her publicly!!! In my opinion, everybody is acting trashy & childish. This is not facebook where people do the he said, she said. This is a public media comment board. Let the courts take care of what needs to be taken care of & leave the bs off public media boards. Quit acting like a bunch of hillbillys. Your giving the rest of us hillbillies a bad rep!!!

  53. JANINE says:

All this garbage coming out needs to stop!! This is not about what people do when they are relaxing this all has to do with the fact than an irresponsible owner did not take proper control of their dog!! Regardless of what kind of dog it is if you know it can harm someone or an animal then get control of it!!! This is about the fact MY SON took my dog for a walk on a LEASH (the law) and this mean dog attacked and killed my dog!!! My son had to see this!!! So all of these people that want to try to blame everyone else and everything but the owner is really ignorant!! Your rude comments about my family and I need to come to an end!! They are wrong not us!!!

  54. ANONYMOUS says:

ITS ABOUT TIME TO GROW UP AND LEAVE IT ALONE.. ALL YOU GUYS ARE DOING IS ACTING LIKE WHITE TRASH!! AND ITS REALLY ABOUT A LITTLE BOY WHO LOST HIS DOG OVER SOME DANGEROUS, UNCONTROLLED PITBULL!!! HOW ABOUT WE LOOK AT DOING WHATS RIGHT FOR THE CHILD AND QUIT THROWING EVERYONES DIRTY LAUNDRY ON HERE?? THIS CONVERSATION HAS TOTALLY SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. HOW OLD ARE WE AGAIN?!?! I THINK OUR KIDS ARE PROBABLY ACTING MORE MATURE THAN HALF OF YOU ON HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. anonymous says:

very amusing that half of the stuff on here was removed after being said cys was being contacted, but was printed before it was.

  56. Tammie says:

OMG seriously people GROW UP with all the childish accusations. People wonder why KIDS are so messed up . . .well, look at the posts on here. How many of these people have kids? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

I would suggest stopping with the potentially slanderous accusations going back and forth. If you don’t lilke eachother than that’s your business but stopping throwing dirt. NO ONE LIVES A PERFECT LIFE and WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE OTHERS????????????? Accusing people of drug usage, child abuse etc is just plain WRONG on sooooo many levels especially those “hiding” behind their computer.

ALL of these posts need to be removed.

    1. JANINE says:

Thank you!! I talked to Tina’s husband the other night and asked them to stop. They are the ones that started saying things about me and now all of a sudden people are mad because people are defending me???

SO BECAUSE SHE LET HER CHILD WALK HIS DOG SHE IS A BAD MOM? DID SHE WALK AND SAY OK THE DOGS ARE OUT GO WALK OUR DOG, NO SHE DIDNT, THAT LITTLE BOY SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO WORRY IF THOSE DOGS WERE LOOSE ITS THE LAW TO KEEP THEM LEASHED, CHAINED AND UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.

Another comment as well….I feel so bad for the Hindman family as well. Just looking through these posts and the Slander that’s being said about them is just down right mean! I wanted to read about the attack on Daisy & found nothing but attacks on the Hindmans! If these comments are true or not it shouldn’t be plasted all over a PUBLIC website like it is. It’s a sad day in PA when 2 families are hurting😦

    1. JANINE says:

yes it is..Have you read all the comments her and her family have posted about me??? People that no me are angry about it also!!!

  63. PAM S says:

BUT JUST BECAUSE MY DOG ISNT AGGRESSIVE DOESNT MEAN HIS ARNT I CANT SAY I NEVER SEEN THE PARENTS, AND JUST CAUSE MY FRIEND HAS READ ALL THIS ON HERE AND STATED BAN HINDMANS PITS DOESNT MEAN SHE DOESNT LIKE PITS CAUSE SHE IS AROUND MINE ALL THE TIME.

  64. PAM S says:

MY DOG ALSO IS WONDERFUL WITH OUR KIDS, BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY IF MY DOG EVER SHOWED ANY AGGRESSION ANIMAL OR PEOPLE I WOULDNT THINK TWICE ABOUT PUTTING HIM DOWN, I LOVE MY DOG JUST LIKE MY KIDS BUT WOULD NOT RISK LIFE OF ANOTHER ANIMAL OR PERSON, AND THIS IS NOT SAYING HIS PITS ARE PEOPLE AGGRESSIVE CAUSE AS I STATED I NEVER SEEN THE PARENTS.

  65. anonymous says:

This has got totally out of control!!! So many truths left out and contradictions have been made.been. Why is the owner of Daisey allowed to post however the owner of the pit comments not being put up here,!!That dog is not a danger to people nor any others in that home..no Puppymill is going on! My kids have been there many times and myself, Being licked to much was all there was to worry about! I have been around all these dogs and they are not dangerous!!!!Please tell me this if it was a unsafe dog how come a contractor can come in and work in the home while it is loose! And if they were so dangerous why did Janine and her children go into that home to visit? Trying to get a quick buck if you ask me? It was said they are caged up all the time..how are they running the neighborhood then? And the kids have NOTHING to do with this..leave them alone! They are being made out to be sound like such bad people with all these dogs, ect….and kids in the home…get it right. Some dogs are being fostered , the dog involved is being out down when animal control says it’s ok. It’s a shame how things are being twisted!!!

    1. JANINE says:

Honey I’m not making anymoney!!! We were never EVER in that house when that dog was out of the cage!!! Thank you

      1. JANINE says:

Once again I would like to ask that all this trash talk stop!! This is about the fact that an aggressive dog got loose and killed my dog while she was being walked on a leash!! I know all these immature comments about my kids and I are from Tina’s friends and family. I would like to mention I got a call today from kdka and they are getting all positive phone calls!! Worried about whats important..the fact a dog was mauled and a child watched it!! Who care who the hell drinks or smokes pot!!! That has nothing to do with anything!!! I appreciate all the positive phone calls instead of all this bs being put on her!!

    1. anonymous says:

Yes this is about the dog being attacked!! You say who cares about who drinks and smokes,,,,yet YOU were trashing the Hindmans about bieng on drugs and that the ex’s better come get the kids! And you will air the dirty laundry! I have seen other people commenting on how your story keeps changing…..you change your story when people positivly comment for you. This could have all been worked out between both families except you decided to go public and created a circus. You said it was an accident at first and was ok. Of course friends are going to back up thier friends with the facts that they KNOW not what they heard. Why threaten the other family when they are not the ones making the negitive comments against you! You keep saying it’s about the dogs yet you keep bringing up the kids and having them removed? Once again there is no puppy mill there 3 litters of pups in 7yrs is hardly running a puppy mill.!! I do feel sorry for your loss of the dog and your child had to witness it. I own dogs myself However…LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF IT! Quit bringing them back in to it!

      1. JANINE says:

Ummm no that was not me!!!! Nothing you are saying I said came from me so sorry!!! You are wrong!! I never said a damn word about anyone’s kids!! Her friends are the ones saying things about me and my kids!! Not me!! I will not stoop to their level!!! So sorry you have the wrong person writing that stuff!!!

      2. Anonymous says:

  67. dog whisper says:

That dog is dangerous//////it needs put down and the owner jailed for a year, That should solve the problem

  68. Lisa says:

This was about alittle boy who watched his dog get mauled by a dog….doesnt matter the breed a dog…..not about who drinks and who does drugs. You were all friends before this and you didnt think twice about that stuff. Worry about the boy and how the boy will be….The dog should not be out without a leash and with an adult around to make sure it doesnt get out. Let the kids be kids and play like they use to. I dont care what kind of dog it is it shouldnt be let out what is it gonna take it to kill a child playing for the owners to see it is a danger???? There are laws and rules for a reason and 11 pitbills is against the law they should get into trouble if you drink and drive and wreck you get in trouble…you have to many dogs and get caught you pay the price…your dog bites no matter what kind of dog and this one did it 4 times you should have to pay the price. I am so sorry to that little boy who had to witness this he new the law his dog was on a leash!!!!!

All i see on here is a bunch of people that put anonymus in instead of their names (real Names) if you have something to say dont be a computer tuff guy\girl, This should all be between brian and janine not tina or her family or janine and her family. and dont involve the children,

    1. JANINE says:

Thank you!! I agree completely and Brian and I texted the other night and he understands what happened should not of happened. We are fine!! I asked him to ask her to tell her frineds and family from putting negative on here!! But they still do. Like he said all he can do is ask them to stop and he also disagrees with what these people are saying.

      1. Dawn H says:

Then you deal with brian and dont worry about what tina and her family say, If its his wife and her friends then he actually needs to tell her not ask her, reading above these are his dogs. so i commend you and brian for trying to work things out in a civil manner and being the grown ups in all this mess.

  78. Seeking balance says:

Sorry, but I don’t really think anyone should be breeding more Pit Bulls without papers and SERIOUS obedience titles. Sorry, but breeding unregistered dogs (especially Pits) is stupid, you can’t say they weren’t bred back to relatives without records! Plus, there is a SERIOUS population explosion of Pit Bulls out there in shelters – stop breeding Pits and Pit mixes for a while. So many end up with ‘undesirables’ and irresponsible people. You want to stay off the news, TRAIN & PROPERLY RESTRAIN YOUR DOG. I’ve had work done in my house where the doors were blocked open – guess what, my 3 dogs were CRATED! Jeez, use some common sense!

  79. Anonymous says:

I sure hope anyone adopting 1 of their dogs demands to see the vet records!

If these dogs are registered how come i couldnt get mines papers?

      1. MsCynic says:

They AREN’T registered! This appears to be a backyard breeder situation with people irresponsibly breeding a breed that is overbred and over euthanized for profit!!!

  80. janine says:

Ok first Steve..the dog does have to be put down. Bottom line and you will see that after court. As far as the dog catcher only talking to them you are once again wrong. He HAS to keep me updated. I talked to him on the phone last night and he directly told me he is being cited for having a dangerous animal and because the dog DOES NOT have rabie shots. In Butler they have to wait (like we are doing) for the county, state and township to cite them and or remove the animals. We are waiting on word from them and yes they are going to be cited for having 11 dogs when they are only alowwed 3.

  81. A Friend says:

It comes down to if you own an animal of any kind you need to be responsible for their actions no matter what. No matter what kind of dog attacked another animal or person, that owner needs to take responsiblility for its actions and the dog should be put down. If they attacked once they will attack again. No matter what kind of animal it is, it will bit when it wants to and humans don’t know when that will happen. Just thank GOD that the young boy was not injured physically and hopefully no one ever will get bit in that neighberhood or anywhere else. My prayers are with the young boy and his family for some peace and comfort in all of this. Also hope that the owner of the Pit Bull dogs must be made to give them up for the safety of the children, who are more important and are not replaceable.

  83. ANGIE says:

A dangerous dog is one that has attacked, inflicted severe injury to or killed a human or a domestic animal without provocation while off an owner’s property, according to the department.

After the dog is reported to the state, the dog gets on the list by being deemed dangerous by a judge. Then the owner must pay $500 to the Department of Agriculture to register the dog, keep it enclosed and post a warning sign, keep the dog muzzled and leashed if it goes outside, spay or neuter the dog, and post bond or buy a $50,000 liability insurance policy.

    .Butler Eagle news article
.by Neen Kielek Hershberger on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 4:02pm.BUTLER TWP — Harley D — a 7½-year-old pit bull — is a nice dog, her family says.

“She’s real people friendly,” owner Brian Hindman said of his dog.

Before Aug. 5, township police couldn’t really argue with Hindman. They never had any serious problems with Harley D.

She never bit anyone or another dog.

But all that changed in a matter of seconds. And now, Harley D’s days are numbered.

Hindman this weekend — two weeks after the pit bull fatally mauled a neighbor’s Chihuahua in Lyndora — plans to euthanize Harley D.

“She killed another dog,” he said. “She’s gotta go.”

On Wednesday, township dog officer Eugene Henry cited the 37-year-old Hindman with four violations of the Pennsylvania Dog Law, including harboring a dangerous dog.

Henry said Hindman‘s pit bull got loose about 11 a.m. Aug. 5 and attacked the much smaller dog on Colleen Street.

Janene Hershberger’s 10-year-old son, Joey, was walking the family dog, Daisy, near their home at the time.

Hershberger and Hindman are neighbors, two homes apart.

Hindman, who owns two other pit bulls and is temporarily caring for another pit bull and her six puppies, said his dogs are kept inside and always on a leash when they go out.

But Hershberger disputes that. She claims Hindman’s dogs are often loose and keep the neighborhood on edge.

“The dogs chase the kids around,” she said. “They’re always running loose.”

Police Chief Gary Garman said that before the deadly attack, his department responded twice — in 2005 and 2009 — to complaints of Hindman’s dogs running in the neighborhood.

Whether well confined or not, the morning of the mauling, Harley D managed to dash out the front door that was momentarily left open.

Hindman was at work but his wife was there and saw the attack, he acknowledged.

She ran out to get Harley D, but by the time she was able to get the pit bull to let go of the eight-year-old Chihuahua, the tiny dog was near death.

“It was like a dog with a chew toy,” Hershberger said of the mauling. “It was terrible.”

The Chihuahua was taken to Butler Veterinarian Associates in Center Township, where it died about two hours later.

“It was just a simple accident,” Hindman said. “I feel bad about what happened.”

He said he’s offered to pay for Hershberger’s vet bills.

Hershberger said the bills totaled $230. She said she hasn’t been paid yet.

Meanwhile, Henry told Hindman to quarantine Harley D for 10 days in accordance with the state dog law.

During that time, Hindman had to confine Harley D to a cage in the house. The quarantine for Harley D ends today.

If District Judge Kevin O’Donnell at a hearing would declare Harley D a “dangerous dog,” Hindman would have to follow stringent requirements to keep the canine friend he’s had since its birth.

He would have to register the dog every year and pay the $500 annual registration fee, confine the dog in a proper enclosure, put up warning signs and keep the dog muzzled and leashed when outside the enclosure.

Additionally, he would have to maintain a minimum of $50,000 of liability insurance coverage for any injuries.

But all that’s moot, Hindman says, because on Saturday he plans to have his veterinarian put down Harley D.

“It’s what I have to do.” he said. “What happened (Aug. 5), you can’t have happen.”

Hershberger said she believes it’s the right decision.

“It should be put down,” she said. “That dog is animal aggressive.”

Meanwhile, Hindman plans to plead guilty to all four charges that Henry filed.

In addition to harboring a dangerous dog, he is charged with not keeping Harley D confined, not having four of his dogs licensed and not having two of his dogs vaccinated.

Because all four charges are summary offenses, Hindman will likely face fines and court costs for each ticket.

This is the way I see if after reading the story and all the comments back and forth. The owner of the pit is at fault even if someone laying carpet let the dog out by accident. If the owner of the pit knew they were having someone come to do work in their home then they should have taken appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the dogs from escaping. Yes this dog did attack another dog while it got out but the pit could have gotten struck by a vehicle also while it had escaped from the home. So for that purpose alone the owners should have moved the dogs to a part of the home to not escaped while people where in and out of their house. Secondly, I think calling the person whose dog was attacked a drunk and such is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with that, so to grasp at strings like that shows the immature demeanor of the pit owner. Stick to the facts please that have to do with the situation, that unfortunately has nothing to do with it. Also I can understand that maybe the two of you in the situation exchanged emails back and forth and thought things were handled but being that it was stated that the dogs then chased her child 2 days later and was not put down like promised I would have called the cops or whomever also. She apparently gave a coupe days for you to take action like stated and when it was not and then the dogs chased her child, then yes I believe she had every right in the world to call. Also what do you think went on in that childs mind after he witnessed your dog kill his and then days later be chased by your dogs. The child probably thought he was going to be killed too. So I can see why he needs therapy! Instead of putting the owner of the dog who died down because in this whole situation I see she did nothing wrong, it was the owner of the pit. And I know that they have admitted their dog did this but I think that her coming on a public website and trying to make the owner of the dog who was killed look like a monster is absurd and she should apologize and move on!

PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED.

Your son or any child would not have lost their life because it was a Pit Bull, that is a poor excuse. Clearly Pit Bulls, who are a hunting breed, see smaller dogs as a target. Does this mean that the dog is aggressive? No. It’s merely doing what is instinctive and in it’s nature. What if the dog was a Labrador Retriever, also a hunting dog who shows excitement and perhaps aggression towards smaller dogs/animals? I guarantee the news would not have made a big deal of the situation.

People need to realize that this was not the owner of the Pits fault but maybe the parents of the young boy. If they knew the dogs were threatening they surely displayed some irresponsibility letting their son walk the dog near the home. While as a pet owner I do feel for the boy losing his dog, I own two Pit Bulls and they are truly a very misunderstood breed.

People who judge Pit Bulls, have no basis to judge. Punish the Deed, not the Breed.

    1. MsCynic says:

Sorry – you are WAY off base. People should not be restricted of where they can walk their dogs on a public street because someone owns or houses a Pit Bull. WOW, that’s amazing. So, if someone moves in my neighborhood with a Pit, I’m not allowed to walk my dogs anymore for fear of overexciting said Pit Bull – that’s BULLS#@!. The STATE says you must have control of your dog – PERIOD!! If you want PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED – fair enough, this dog’s acts merit it being declared DANGEROUS (according to dangerous dog law, a dog that attacks/injures another person or animal off of the owners property can be considered dangerous). It was the OWNER of the Pit’s responsibility to control/contain his dog – PERIOD!! As it is for anyone who owns ANY dog!

To blame the kid for just WALKING HIS DOG is perhaps the most IDIOTIC statement I’ve seen!
