Pittsburgh (KDKA)- It’s not very often that the Pirates will lead the majors in money spent.

To the credit of Pirates owner Bob Nutting, that is the case in regards to the MLB Draft.

Since 2007, the Pirates lead the MLB in spending on amateur draft picks.

It’s a bit misleading because they’ve owned such high picks during those years but the bottom line is they have spent money.

1) PIRATES: $52,057,400
2) Washington: $51,084,600
