The ninth grader collided with another player during a scrimmage at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Paramedics treated the boy who complained of numbness in his extremities. A medical helicopter was also called to the scene.

I hope the 9th grader doesn’t play football again because apparently he has some type of sensitivity or weakness in his spinal cord or back or some area of his body and it may be his body trying to tell him something such as don’t take a risk again and get something permanently. There are so many other types of wonderful and honorable sports that he could participate in and not put himself at risk, why not excel at another one instead? I have seen young men in nursing homes paralyzed for life and its so sad and I don’t want this to happen in Plum. I am not saying every boy should give up football, just him. Best of luck to him and his family if he decides to play football again.

correction: cervical area, not spinal cord or back
