Lincoln Dominant As Pirates Clip Cards 7-0

ST. LOUIS (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to a 7-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday afternoon.

Josh Harrison had three hits and three RBIs, while Brad Lincoln (1-0) pitched six shutout innings to propel the Pirates to the win.

Lincoln allowed six hits and struck out four while only walking one in his dominating performance.

Harrison's RBI single in the second inning gave the Pirates the only run they would need.

The Pirates blew the game open in the fourth inning with four runs.

With one out, Garrett Jones ripped a double to left field, which allowed Andrew McCutchen to score.

Harrison followed with a two-RBI single to centerfield.

Lincoln helped his own cause with a double to make the score 5-0.

In the fifth inning, Neil Walker sent a Chris Carpenter offering over the wall in left field to extend the lead to 6-0.

McCutchen capped the scoring in the seventh inning with a RBI single to left field.

Carpenter allowed six runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out five in five innings of work.

Daniel McCutchen and Chris Resop only allowed one hit over the final three innings to preserve the win.

The teams will finish their four-game series Sunday afternoon at 2:15 p.m.

Jeff Karstens (9-7, 3.09 ERA) is scheduled to take on Kyle Lohse (11-8, 3.73 ERA).
