1 Injured After Tractor Trailer & Train Collide

BLAWNOX (KDKA) -- One person was taken to the hospital after a tractor trailer collided with a train this afternoon in Blawnox.

KDKA's Lynne Hayes-Freeland reports from the scene that officials say the tractor trailer, which was empty, was turning when it struck the Norfolk Southern train.

The tracks run by RIDC Park through Blawnox.

Authorities say the train had 130 cars. One car reportedly contained a hazardous chemical, but it doesn't appear to have been damaged in the accident.

The train had to be stopped on the tracks while crews checked over all of the cars. Officials say it has disrupted some train traffic and blocked some cross streets.

Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer was dazed in the accident. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with some memory problems.

There is no word on how long it will take to check over all the train cars, but crews say it could take a few hours.
